Good Dash Camera - Complex Install
The Garmin Dash Cam 56 is an upgrade in some ways to the popular Dash Cam 55 model and not in others. First, the new model improves upon the overall field of vision (old was 122 and this is 140 degrees). The forward facing camera resolution is the same as the 55 model. The Dash Cam 56 also supports a larger 256GB micro SD card (great!). I also like that the new model is all black (preference) and less visible from a parking lot (not as visible to a thief). The model also retains the great (super small) form factor of the prior model.Unfortunately it is not all good news. The internal screen resolution and quality does not appear as crisp as the older model 55 Dash Cam. Is this a deal breaker...it will depend upon your personal preference. Additionally, the Camera software and cloud connectivity is not as great as some higher priced competitors. I would have loved to see a GPS overlay with my camera footage. While the internal battery is an improvement over the dash cam 55 series, it still lacks capacity at only 30 minutes of run time. Overall the camera is good, but I cannot easily say it is a significant upgrade to the 55 series. The installation kit is fairly robust and comprehensive, but not super helpful to me as my vehicle fuse box is located within the engine bay. This means I have to pass through the vehicle firewall to get parking mode power for the dash camera (very complex). Contrast this with competing dash cam models which feature OBD II power connections and the choice becomes clear. An interior connection to the OBD II port for power would elevate the installation rating for this kit from a 2 to 5 star package. I like many people have no desire to route through a vehicle firewall to tap the fuse box.Overall the dash camera and this kit offer good value for the money if your vehicle has an interior fuse box. For those of us with a fuse box in the engine bay, this kit may not offer a great value as currently configured. The addition of an OBD II power option would make this kit an instant, 5 star, win!

Incredible package but not easy to install
The cam is absolutely amazing. It's very small in the windshield and it takes really good footage of what you're doing on the road. This package really contains everything you need to hard wire your Garmin Dash cam 56 to your car. But, if you're not familiar with this process, you'll have to do a ton of research how to do it, since no instructions are provided. Also, you'll need some specialized tools to do it. So, if you're really good with cars, that's an incredible kit for you. But, for beginners I would say that it's better to go see a professional to do it.

Great Cam
The absolute best for the price, and from a huge name like Garmin. The parking mode works perfectly, and you can basically install this into anything with wheels with the included tools. Best bundle you can get. Voice control is also a huge plus for my family, with my minors starting to drive now.

Garmin is not in the camera business! Run away!
Picture and video definition is bsolute garbage! There is nothing high definition about these Garmin 55’s and 56’s. Could use 1 to 2X zoom at the minimum! Buy a Go Pro!

worked as advertised
Everything came as stated in the picture; we purchased a best buy total tech support for the year so we took the whole box plus a micro SD to the technician at best buy and it was installed without difficulty; seems to work fine; I have yet to sync it to my garmin app but everything on the unit works well; it is hard wired to our car
