Westmark Monopol Can Opener Safety-left, one size, x

I bought my first of these openers for my wife, who is left-handed. I do most of the cooking, however, so she didn't use it very much. I found, after I figured out to use it, that this is by far the best can opener I've ever used -- even for right-handed folk like myself. I bought a second one and haven't used my old right-handed opener since -- and I don't plan to -- ever again. This opener is easier to use than the old style, it is safer, and it is less prone to spills. It is a really great product. I wish that I could have given it 6 stars!

This can opener works really well! It took us a few minutes to figure out how exactly to use it, but then we were amazed how easily the lids come off. My lefty loves that he has his very own can opener now, and that he can use his left hand to turn the knob. I’m right handed and enjoy using it just as much. I find it easy to use my left hand to turn the knob.

I bought this for my left handed wife, who is convinced that everything, including perfectly symmetrical objects, are designed only for the right handed.It came, and I took on the task of developing the technique for proper use. I had virtually no success and asked Amazon to return it to the vendor in Germany. In response I received very German instructions to read the manual and try again. So I did.I had been trying to use it sitting at the kitchen table, with little success, and for some reason tried it standing up at a counter. It worked, and worked well. A little refinement (turn the handle counter clockwise only) and I was a happy user.Unfortunately my wife has written it off completely and now I, the right handed one, use it exclusively. She continues to mangle poor innocent cans, turning them into dangerous metal objects, with a new right handed can opener.There is a moral here, but I'm not sure what it is.

Although I can use it or make it work, others in the household cannot. Must be “just right” to work well. Device frustrates most of the family.

Works effortlessly for both our left and righthanded family. Very smooth. The first time you use it, you won't be able to tell when it's done. Contrary to a previous post, there were no sharp edges on any can I've cut, much safer than conventional openers I've used. Also, much easier on the wrist. Recommended.

Bought this as a birthday gift. Not one of 6 people who tried could make this work. Great idea, lousy product.

I found it easier to use a right handed opener. This is difficult to manage and it is very difficult to get the lid off once it has been opened.

I bought this for my 10 year-old son, who's a lefty. Every time he used my righty can opener, he would ask me to PLEASE get him his own can opener. He loves it.This is really cool. After doing some research, I decided on this model, since I didn't want to have to buy something I'd have to replace in a few months. This is very sturdy and easy to use. It's a good choice, especially if you don't want to have to buy a new one anytime soon.
