Fairly Comprehensive, Well-Organized Guide for Beginners to Intermediate
If you are ready to start using essential oils to deal with physical or mental problems, this book is a great guide. I would recommend buying this book BEFORE you spend a penny on any essential oil, if you haven't already. Essential oils are expensive and potentially harmful; buying this book is a good, small investment. You won't need another book until you are ready to become an expert, and in that case, this book even has a section with recommendations "for further reading".The coverage of the book is impressive yet it easy to read, because the author’s writing is simple and straightforward. In case you don't bother reading the book from the beginning, jumping in for a quick reference, he mentions the safety precaution about each oil almost everywhere (I say almost only because I might have missed some) the oil is mentioned. But I would recommend reading from the beginning at least once, because the book gives you good answers and hints for things you may be wondering about, like "which manufacturer's oil should I buy?" or "Why are some oils so expensive?". I have been using essential oils for years, and wish I had this book before, as it would have saved me a lot of time and money. The remedy section also proposes alternative remedies to problems, in lieu of using essential oils, which I found sincere.I have a few complaints about this book. First, it does not have remedies, nor even does it mention much on PMS or menstrual pains. Those are the reasons I began using essential oils, and they can help a lot. I personally believe more people are seeking help for the symptoms described in the book, but the author is a man and he may not realize how bad PMS/menstrual pain can be for women. Clary Sage, for example, is one of the most helpful oils for PMS / cramps, but the book only mentions that it "may help with: Women's health". The book does discuss menopause.Second, it does not explain the differences in chemotypes, production sites and grades (not the grading that the book mentions). These can drastically define the characteristics and chemical composition of oils as well as their prices, especially for certain types of more rare oils. These can be factors with large consideration when choosing essential oils, so it would be good to explain them. But in the U.S., many manufacturers don't mention chemotypes, production sites and grades for the kind of oils where those are important, and I guess the author tried to keep the book simple and clear. Finally, the book does not mention notes and blend factor, which are great to know when you blend oils yourself. But again, the book has hundreds of blending recipes for various purposes; you don't really need to create your own recipes. By the time you are ready to try that, it may be the time to buy a more advanced book.

Excellent guide to healing with essential oils
This is a beautiful, informative, well-formatted book on healing with essential oil therapy. Using essential oils myself in diffusers around my home, in my bath, and on myself via a roller applicator, I was curious about various scents and combinations of aromas that would help me with my fibromyalgia and sleep problems due to menopause. This book addresses both of these issues and many more. What I like about this book:1. It starts with the basics for the DIYer or beginner. (I needed that!)2. Thirty essential oils are explained in detail, which builds upon other content in the book.3. One-Hundred therapeutic uses for these thirty oils in combination are addressed with suggestions for essential oil therapies to help.4. There are further resources offered in the form of readings and websites to help readers to further their own knowledge of essential oil therapies.5. The book is easy to use as a quick reference.6. Information is informative and to the point. Things like a simple "how-to" of putting together a Decongestant Bath Blend with essential oils and Epsom salts was really helpful!Ten of the Top 100 Therapeutic Uses listed in the book...☆ Hot Flashes☆ Motion Sickness☆ Plantar Fasciitis☆ Breastfeeding difficulties☆ Insomnia☆ Shingles☆ Fatigue☆ Sunburn☆ Anxiety☆ SnoringEach of the essential oils in the book has pages that explain the oil using some basic formatting that really works well for quick reference by the reader.➤ Name of the oil.➤ Fast Facts about the oil named.➤ Where It Comes From➤ What Makes It Great➤ How to Use It➤ Blending Suggestions➤ Safety GuidelinesThe addition of the Aromatherapy First-Aid Kit; oils that can be combined to treat minor scrapes, burns and insect bites, was a nice thing to have in the book too.In the Resources section, there is a table that has the 30 essential oils outlined in the book plus 45 more. The oil's name, its uses, and safety precautions are in the table which is easy to read at a glance. Suggestions for further reading and websites are also provided to the reader for furthering their knowledge of essential oil therapy.I really liked this book. I've not found many books on this topic that are so easy to read either cover to cover or as a reference with clear suggestions for specific ailments. The author, Jimm Harrison, is a master aromatherapist and did a very fine job putting this book together. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about the healing powers of essential oils or who is into DIYing and looking to up their game when making things like bath fizzes (like I do) or candles with essential oils.

Excellent Recipe Book
I love that right off the bat this book says they do not condone using essential oils internally. As a certified aromatherapist student, this shows me that the author is actually professionally trained and not in an MLM. The recipes are very easy to follow, not complicated, and use oils that are readily available. Excellent book!

Beautiful book with many different blend recipes and suggestions for oil use. I wish I had bought the basic blending items/tools as well - haven't yet used any of the recipes. My diffuser has been getting a workout though! 😊😂 Hoping to buy some roller bottles soon.
