I started using this putty in its various colors about 40 years ago for filling nail holes in various hardwoods used in trimming out old houses. It works very well, being very slow to harden. Colors can be mixed to achieve very close matches to almost any finished wood. New users should be aware that this product is intended only for finished woods, not unsealed or unvarnished wood.

Best product of this type that i have used, easy to apply and clean up. Jar dries up too quick, have to use it right away

I have used this product in two rooms and needed a big pot to take care of some snagging issues before some guests come in for the holidays. The product is a great match for our hardwood floors and I have previously used tiny pots. I went for a big pot for this job and although the product is great, unfortunately the top third of the pot I received in this order was very dry, crusty and unusable for the best part. I wet my hands a little to see if that would make it a bit better to work with but can only assume that the pot wasn’t 100% airtight and the product near the top had perished. Wasn't in a position to make a return and wait for a new one so just had to forego that third of the pot. That’s just unlucky though and in general I would say that the product itself is great to work with and dries relatively quickly.

You can compare the color of the wood you're trying to match with the color presented on the page, because the web photo is accurate. This putty has exactly the right texture to work into the fine cracks where cabinets are joined. I was looking all over San Diego County for a putty to match the new cabinets we got from Home Depot. The cabinet finish we chose was honey-glaze maple. The putty and wax stick the cabinet manufacturer sent was not close, and their customer service rep said that was the nearest they had. Home Depot was no help. Tried all the professional paint supply places in the metropolitan area without success. Color Putty Company to the rescue - their maple matched the natural maple of our cabinets perfectly.The putty was workable, adhered nicely and the residue cleaned up with a damp cloth.Recommended: Yes

I bought two of these the same day one came in fresh nice perfect putty and this one here was hard on the top and had hard spots all the way through and it was basically worthless it made a real hassle when you run into a clump when you're trying to do a nice job of putty in a hole so I just got a bad one let's put it like that.

Fills holes on the first application and blends beautifully with light colored wood! I love this product and would recommend to anyone who is wishing to patch a few small holes in their walls..

If you read all the way to the bottom of the bad English text, it says it doesnt dry to a sandable hardness.I failed to notice that and read "Repair and Woodworking" in the description up top.It is easy to use and is a very good color, but if you want to actually do repairs or be able to work it... this is not the stuff. If you are looking for nicely colored Play-Doh... buy it.

While a bit orange for outdoor redwood, it was very close. Using a brush made the full disappear

Oil based Color Putty is an excellent product. I mix different colours to achieve the exact colour I want. It is very easy to apply and becomes durable after it dries. Another plus is that once a jar with a putty is opened, the remaining putty stays pliable in a closed jar, unlike water based wood fillers that dry out and are not usable. If needed, the oil based putty can be made more soft with an addition of pure mineral oil.

Fixes cracks in hardwood flooring

It doesn't dry, it's just a gooey oily mess. Wish I could return it.
