A workhorse still going strong
I was just packing away my rice cooker for the millionth time and thought I should post a review. I bought this rice cooker in Jan 2018 and I can honestly say we use this at least twice a week for my hungry family of four. It is still working fantastically. I love that it’s stainless steel and I cook brown rice, white rice, a mix of black brown and red rice that I make in it and every times it’s perfect! I cook with chicken stock with the rice, other times just a dash of olive oil and salt and other times just filtered water. It doesn’t stick to the bottom. I sometimes keep the rice warm overnight with no issues. It works like a champion and I am very happy with it. I lost the little thing that keeps the lid hanging from the top years ago and I just pop the metal lid on the base and cook the rice and it’s perfect. To me it’s a workhorse and I would only ever replace it with another stainless steel one this does die from old age and overuse. But so far it’s been 2 and a half years of constant use and I am happy.

Stainless Steel! Minor Design Flaws
One note: do not follow the directions, still do 2:1 ratio of water to white rice, etc. Easy clean up, stainless goes straight in dishwasher. Two product notes: Same flaw in all rice cookers do not remove plug frequently as the plastic attachment will break (this happened to my last rice cooker, different model, same part), and the removable steamer tray has slightly larger holes than I would like and also is difficult to remove when hot because there is no handle or lip to grab (but same flaw in all rice cookers I have seen).

Very dangerous product, it can cause house fire.
Have been cooking brown rice using this Oyama for a couple months.Pros: Very hot and quick 30 mins cook time better than we've used in the past. Stainless, somewhat none sticky and easy to clean once it's soaked for at least 5 mins. Matched shiny display on top of a granite counter because it's stainless feature outside. Simple push button to cook and warm no confusion. Warm brown rice for over 24 hrs after that it'll harden them rice on the side. Fairly priced.Cons: Short cord. Hot bubbles on top spills over down to the side and could burn your hands if not careful. Again it's not warm bubbles, it's really freakin' hot.Update: 09/18/2013Few months ago, i noticed that the cook/warm lever was not returning to warm after it cooked the brown rice and it's been burning rice at the bottom. This incident has become frequent that if we forget to turn-off on time, it can become dangerous. Last night I came home with a burnt smell inside the garage. My wife has forgotten that on/off lever has been malfunctioning. The rice was totally toasted up to the top. It has stunk the whole house and took me over 2 hours scouring and cleaning the bottom of the pot. I tried to use it again but either of the light indicator won't even come on. It might have blown its little fuse inside. I didn't mind losing $75, but losing the house with fire is another thing. Downgraded this product from 4 stars to 0. Very, very, very dangerous. All you brickheaded fools out there, I already warned you.

Adequate for cooking rice, but not for keeping it warm over time.
This is a basic cook and hold rice cooker with a stainless steel bowl, inner lid, and steamer insert. I bought it to replace my old National/Panasonic rice cooker which served me for over 20 years of daily use. I wanted a model with a stainless steel insert rather than non-stick because I am suspicious of the safety of non-stick surfaces. This seemed to be the only game in town. Freshly cooked rice does not stick too much to the surface. Older rice needs to be soaked to remove. I like the stainless steel and black look of it, but the quality does not match my old rice cooker. It cooks rice in about 20 min. and automatically switches to keep warm. My complaint is that the rice starts to dry out within a day when kept in the warmer. My old cooker would keep rice warm and nice for days (in an asian household, we always have cooked rice on hand). The "10 Cup" capacity cooker is more of a 6-7 Cup cooker because its size is in reference to the included cup which is not a standard cup measure. It's a bit much for a family of 4. I wish I'd gotten the 7 Cup model and that it did not dry out rice being kept warm. I would return it if I could, but I guess it'll do for now.

Oyama Rice Cooker is great
I recommend this product to anyone who wants to cook perfect rice, fast, efficient and great tasting every time. We also used a rice maker and eat rice every day. We found this and were very excited to know it was stainless steel. It is so simple to use and it cooks rice amazingly fast and perfect every time. If u want a rice cooker, this is the way to go. I don't have anything negative to say.

Does a great job but it can be messy if you don't take precautions
Does a great job on brown rice. I put 6 scoops of rice with my special measure and put the water up to the 7 cup level and it turn out just how we like it but you have to let it set for a while after it finishes cooking or it will not be as soft as I like it. I usually start it either in the morning or at least 2 hours before I plan to use it and just pull out the plug when it is done and leave it to sit for up to 6 hours and it will still be warm and not sticking much and very easy to clean. I wish it had a lid to fit the insert but I have one that almost fits so I can just take it out, put the lid on, and put it in the refrigerator. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because it can be pretty messy, but I have discovered that if I fold a dish towel and lay it on the top just up to next to the vent, and then put a small piece of cheesecloth over the vent tucked into the towel, which still allows the steam to escape but sucks most of the excess moisture into the towel, and a washcloth on the counter next to the vent side that there is only a little mess to clean up.
