If I was thinking I was going to be getting a real battle ready sword, it would have only got a one or two star rating and a lot of complaints. But I purchased this for several reasons and this replica surpassed all of my concerns and expectations. It should be noted that the blade is Stainless steel and not sharpened. Considering I am using this to learn sabre dancing, that is not a bad thing for a beginner.I two and my main concern is what I found with other replica swords and that the blade would be too springy to practical for use with actual use. The blade sports some flexibility, but is similar to a real sword and not overly so with would throw off movement. I have had problems with the quality of replica swords that I have paid four times as much for, and no such defects exist in either of the two.Sturdy enough for what I need to use them for, but would caution as other notions of practice involve striking and stabbing into objects and I would not recommend them for it. As other reviews state, the blade appears to be a Japanese katana shape and not a Shashka, but it does appear to be embossed with Cossack embellishments. I felt that the people that manufactured this item do care.

excellent product for a great price

Adding a genuine Shashka to any collectors display is both rewarding and costly. Knowing this, I decided to purchase a cost-effective reproduction to my collection with the intent of replacing it with the genuine article. This sword is nice, with good attention to detail and passable components such as the blade etching and the true to original eagle pommel. For the price this sword is exactly what I was expecting, plastic handle and die cast components that one could expect from a $50 sword. All in all it serves its purpose. 4 Stars
