Perfect for thick, long hair.
The bristles are definitely firm, which is exactly what I wanted. The brush is small, but I don't mind at all, as it does what a brush should. I have long, and a bit-thick hair down to my tailbone and this boar bristle brush works perfectly with my hair. Definitely recommend!

Owwwww don't recommend for beards!
Only dropping one star because the seller didn't say anywhere on their description that you could/should use on beards. I have a medium length beard (about 4") and have found other brushes to be too soft and this is definitely extra firm! But I took one swipe on my chin and OW. Definitely extra firm! Probably better for someone with dense HEAD HAIR but even then I'd be wary...I don't think it'd feel great on the scalp either! I like that it has a grippable handle unlike 95% of beard brushes but also this isn't a beard brush! Do not recommend at least for beards that are still close enough to the skin for this touch your skin. But if you have a REALLY long beard (a la Dumbledore or Gandalf or something), this would be really good for untangling the longer parts where you wouldn't have the brush against skin.

Perfect - Absolutely PERFECT!
Finally a brush that's stiff enough, feels great on my scalp, Appears the bristles are sturdy & won't fall out. LOVE this brush. Very happy with purchase & would purchase again in a heart-beat. In fact may re-order shortly for one of my pets. Highly recommend. Update: ordered another & my cats LOVE this brush. They beg for it & their coats are noticeably softer (rabbit-soft fur).

Good stiff brush
Most brushes you can find are too soft. They ride on top of your hair. This one is stiff, so if you have a sensitive scalp you might not want it. It has nice straight edges and goes thru your hair to leave a nice straight part. The handle is not too small and feels natural. I recommend it.

Firmer bristles would help.
I wish the bristles were firmer, to help keep my dog's coat from matting. This just brushes the top layer of hair on a double coated dog.
