Works great - no issues
I like to use my iphone as a dash cam to record various events. I was sick of trying to drive and hold the phone to record at the same time. Not to mention that driving and recording is extremely dangerous. So I took to Amazon to find a nice quality phone mount that would hold the phone and not cover the camera or have anything in view of the camera. I wanted all of this for $20 or less. I looked at a lot of these things and had it narrowed down to the Koomus and one other - I went with the Koomus. Prime had it at my house in two days which I love. The product was smaller than I was expecting but it was nicely built. I put my phone in it right away to see how it would hold it and it holds on very tight. I have a iphone 5S with a magpul case and it fits snug with no issues at all. I went out to my car right away to test it out. Now I'm just using it on my windshield so I can't comment on how it would hold up when stuck to a dash. I can say though that the 3M sticky pad thats built onto the suction cup is *strong*. I had to pull very hard to get it off my windshield to re position it. Obviously the more you install/uninstall it it looses a little bit of the stickiness but it says you can just wash it off to make it as good as new again. With the 3M pad plus the suction there is NO WAY that its coming off my windshield. I've tried pulling on it and its solid. Of course its going to depend on your dash but I don't think there should be any issues getting it to stick. The mount works great for a dashcam, you do have to slide the phone in the mount a little so that the camera doesn't pick up the suction cup in the shot but the phone is still very secure and isn't going to fall out. This depends on your windshield and where you position the mount because I've tried it in my other cars and haven't had any issues with the camera picking up the suction cup when positioned in the middle of the mount. The arm and grabber that hold the phone are solid and stay where you position them, but if you need to rotate the phone from portrait to landscape it can easily be turned. Once you get the hang of it you can easily put the phone in/out with one hand. I've began to use it for more than just taking video. Its nice to have it there for music - no more looking down to find a song. You can easily see when a txt or call comes in and leaves you a free hand when using the phone as a GPS.As I said the main reason I bought this was to take video while driving just like a police dash cam. It takes good clean video and the mount stays solid and doesn't bounce around or wiggle. Looks just like police dash cam video when reviewed. So if you have a 5S and are looking for a mount for this purpose as I was, I can say 100% that this will work.Overall I'm very happy with this purchase for $14. I do wish the arm in between the suction cup and the phone grabber was longer but its not that big of a deal. I would recommend it without hesitation!

Springs for holder appear to be stronger.
I've had this unit for 5 months and I must say it sticks to the windshield like nobody's business. BUT the springs for the holder were never very strong and, over time got progressively looser until whatever held them in place finally let go. I'm very disappointed because I was looking for a windshield mount that would stick to the windshield in my bouncy Jeep Wrangler. The sticky part worked great! Now if only they could strengthen the springs for the phone holder.UPDATE: The kind folks at Koomus contacted me and asked if they sent a replacement unit would I consider revising my review. I agreed and soon after I received the replacement. I didn't write a new review right away because I needed to see how the unit held up since the first time it survived 5 months before totally failing. I am happy to be able to report that I possibly received a defective unit the first time because this unit is doing great! Just a couple of words to the wise. Take extra care to keep the sticky surface of the mounting bracket clean. Only when it is totally clean will it stick to the windshield reliably. I made the mistake of fumbling the mount and letting it drop on my floorboard where it picked up some dog hair. It would not stick again until I got every single hair removed but now it's doing great! Another word to the wise. The springs are pretty strong and the holder will snap closed when you remove your phone if you just reach up and pull it out of the bracket. I'm not sure if this contributed to the premature failure of the first unit but when I opened the broken unit up, I found that one of the spring mounting studs inside had broken off. Maybe it was never right or maybe the snapping shut cause it to shear off. I don't know but what I do now is try to keep the bracket from snapping shut full force. So would I recommend it? Yes, without a doubt. The unit is staying on my windshield in my very bouncy Jeep Wrangler reliably which lets me use my iPhone for music and GPS functions.

Great while it worked. Internal spring mechanism broke after 6 months.
I have tried many suction phone mounts, and this one was by far the best in every way possible. It never shook or lost suction on my dash and the pivot ball never came loose like others. This is amazing considering my dash is textured. However, after 6 months I went to put my phone in it like normal and the spring mechanism snapped internally.PROS:* Never lost suction. My car is parked outside with no shade in the California sun and it never budged. Awesome.* Very quick and easy to insert your phone.* Works for a wide range of device sizes, so no need to buy a new mount when you get a new phone.* The pivot points never came loose (unlike others that have a screw you need to adjust after tension is lost).* It doesn't shake too much at all.* Holds my Samsung GS4 tight with the rubber cushions and it never came loose.* Sleek design.* Great customer service.CONS:* It feels a bit flimsy and it broke after 6 months of use. To be fair, I contacted Koomus and they responded the same day offering to send a replacement, no questions asked. I will update this rating once I receive the replacement and make sure it lasts. However, I suspect the internal mechanism is flimsy and will probably break again. If it weren't for this, I would give it 5 stars and I will provide updates every 6 months or so to this review.

Best vehicle phone holder used so far
I have been using this holder for about 14 months and it still works great. I had the iphone 5 up to a month ago and now with the 6S it still grips the phone solid. I drive 165 KM's a day, 5 days a week to work on a combo of 80% country roads and 20% highway. The country roads can be quite rough in places and the phone never slides or pops out. I have a Civic and it's mounted to my dash just above the radio. Every 3 or 4 months, I remove the holder to clean the rubber contact. You just clean it under a tap with cold water and let it air dry.I have used at least a dozen phone holders over the years and this is the best so far. Even if this one only lasted a few years, I would buy it again without hesitation.

Good enough
Bought this because of the numerous praise for the item. Here's my take after 1 week of use.I have it mounted on the dash of my Honda Element. I use it with my iPhone 6 in a Tech21 case. The 3m mount requires a nearly flat surface or it will disengage. However on the proper surface, it seems very secure. The clamping mechanism is a bit ackward. I haven't figured out how to mount or dismount my phone with one hand. Since the clamping mechanism extends only at the top, trying to mount the phone with one hand puts upwards prying pressure on the mount. Trying to remove the phone with one hand means the spring loaded clamping mechanism snaps shuts with force which feels like it can damage the mechanism. This mount initially caused my phone to be more shaky than my previous mount while driving. Fortunately, i was able to eliminate most of the shake by adjusting the arm to the lowest position. Shaking is now dampened to a satisfactory degree. However if you require a higher arm position, shaking will be more pronounced and longer in duration after an impact.

Highly recommended for those who experience -20 winter weather
The best one I ever used. strongly sticks to the windshield. I live in a place where there is -40 to 35 degree Celsius and this one just stays there. firm. Because of this stickiness, it is hard to move from one place to other. Used it for a year now and the cell phone holding unit feels the same as day one.

GREAT PRODUCT BUT..
THE ONLY REASON WHY I GAVE 4 STARS WAS BECAUSE ONE OF THE TWO UNITS PURCHASED COULDN'T MOUNT PROPERLY. I HAD TO RETURN ONE OF THE UNITS BACK BUT THE SECOND UNIT WORKED AS DESCRIBED. ONCE MOUNTED, IT STUCK TO THE DASHBOARD AS IF IT WAS GLUED.I WOULD LIKE TO JUST SEND AN UPDATED REVIEW. AFTER USING THE UNIT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS, THE SUCTION HAS STARTED TO WEAKEN AND I HAVE HAD TO REMOUNT EVERY FEW DAYS. AS OF 3 DAYS AGO, THE CLIP FOR PUTTING THE MOUNT INTO PLACE SNAPPED AND NOW IT IS NO LONGER USABLE.

Awesome little holder
Been going strong for roughly a year now. Secured to my wind shield and hasn't budged or come loose even once. Works in the heat and during the frigid winter temps. Great product
