Rob SandersPeaceful Fights for Equal Rights

A beautiful and simple introduction to civic engagement
This book was recommended through a Facebook parenting group. A mom read it and loved it, but then she noticed there are quite a few one-star reviews that seem to have an idealogical bent. My advice is to ignore whatever troll campaign sent the one-star reviewers, and buy it for yourself and your kiddos! I've bought one for my family and will be giving others as Christmas presents.Back to the book: the art is gorgeous, the content is beautiful and relatable--my kids were able to recognize voting, making protest posters, and other activities they have participated in. It's a perfect introduction to civic engagement and peaceful protest. There is nothing age-inappropriate or scandalous, unless equal rights seem unfair to you (here's looking at you, Brian Kemp)! There is an adorable page of construction workers and one is baby-wearing. My kids identified that as their Daddy (who works in construction) right away! My favorite page reads: "Inquire. Inform. Imagine. Invite. Join others on the journey. Join others in the fight." Buy it patriots, you won't regret it!

Ignore the 1 star reviews!
This book is thoughtful and beautifully illustrated. It offers positive images and positive language to help children understand a very important set of vocabulary words. It is timely, but also reflective of an ongoing pattern of challenge in our history. It is written simply yet presents great opportunity for opening discussion for different age/maturity levels.

Brain washing material for children
I'm actually buying this book so that I can teach my 9-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter how the progressive political left establishment is trying to brainwash them. This is the perfect material to teach my children what not to do in life.

Terrible
If I could give this book a zero I would. I’ve taught Kindergarten for over 16 years and I would NEVER read this to my class.

This has to be a joke!
Seriously? I can’t even believe this is a real book! WHAT A JOKE!! Only gets one star because it wouldn’t let me give zero stars!

A Great Addition to Your School or Classroom Library
I bought this book because I was in a workshop where Mr. Sanders spoke to future teachers about writing and I was so impressed when he was sharing this book (It was in pre-production) I had to get a copy when it released. I was not disappointed! This book is inspiring, powerful, fun to read, tour through the alphabet that gently reminds students to stand up for what they believe in, and to approach it in numerous ways that leaders did before us. This is a great teaching tool for a classroom lesson, or to be used as a supplemental book for a history unit. As a future teacher, I look forward to adding this powerful book to my classroom library!
