Exceptional Product!!
This was an expensive poncho, but I wanted something that was reusable. It said it would take a while to ship but I didn't mind since it's winter and I don't need it anytime soon. It ended up coming a few weeks ahead of time which was unexpected, but nice. The seller was very nice, sending emails and asking for feedback. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Upon getting the package I was surprised at how heavy it was. Really surprised actually and was disappointed because the lighter the better when making a BOB or camping. On the package it said it was .8 kilos which is about 1.76 pounds. I opened the package and it was neatly folded in a bag with a drawstring on the top, perfect for stowing it in. Both are made of the same material with a very heavy liner on the inside to make them extra waterproof. This doesn't even compare to the cheap dollar store ponchos. I tried the poncho on and I'm 5' 8". I read that people who were over 6' said this was a long poncho. I didn't have a problem with the length and think it's perfect since it came to just below my knee cap. If it's shorter that means it'd make a smaller shelter so I'd prefer it on the long side. My arms fit perfect and it was easy to pull my arms inside the poncho if I wanted to keep them dry. The openings are plenty big and it could do it one handed instead of trying to pull one arm in while holding the poncho with the other like you might do trying to get a sweatshirt off. The hood is plenty big with lots of overhang all around. It's a huge pet peeve of mine to have a small hood, they're worthless if it doesn't cover your head. Because there is so much overhang it's hard to look around, but I'd rather be dry then able to look around. There is also a drawstring in the hood just like your standard hoodie. I'm skinny at only 5' 8" tall and 135 lbs so the poncho was very large front to back on me, but that's good since it would fit over a backpack if I wanted to wear one. Even if you were a larger person I'm sure this poncho would work for you. I then took the poncho off and unbuttoned it to see the size of the shelter it would make. For one person it would make a good shelter, but if another person had this poncho they could easily snap them together and make a very nice larger shelter. I imagine that could go on forever since there's snaps on either side of the poncho. I flipped the poncho over and saw the heavy liner inside that I mentioned earlier. There's also 2 loops inside that have a length of hoodie drawstring tied to them maybe a few feet? This could be used to wrap around your waist I'm assuming by the length and placement. Either way it was a pleasant surprise since it can double as another tie point when used as a shelter. All of the six eyelets on the poncho, all 4 corners and 1 on either side in the middle, have a foot of hoodie drawstring material tied to them which I will probably swap with longer 550 paracord. Don't get me wrong the drawstring would work fine but I'd prefer longer ones since you don't know where you might have to tie to. All the eyelets and snaps are heavy duty and the snaps are doublesided so the poncho could be flipped inside out if need be I guess? Either way it's very nice and makes snapping easier. On the inside around where the hood is stitched to the poncho there is tape over the seams to prevent water from coming through. Very impressive. I've never written a review this long or even close to this long, but I was that impressed with this poncho. This will definitely make it into my BOB and I recommend this product to anyone. It's by far the best poncho I've ever seen and I'm thinking about buying another one just to have it even though I probably don't need it. It's that good. Hope this review helps

Just about perfect!
ordered april 22, received may 4....not bad shipping from Ireland to the western united states. I must say that for $15, this thing beats the heck out of any frog tog or driduck poncho for durability (my frog tog lasted depackaging and some trips in a backpack is all) This thing is much more durable and heavy duty than the fox outdoors, kelty, or other military style ripstop ponchos I have seen. The snaps down the sides are big and strong and snap on both sides (unlike most ponchos) which gives you quite a bit of flex ability in how you wear it or set it up. Grommets and ties are in all corners and the centers. One thing people aren't mentioning that I was concerned about was the seams - the seams ARE taped. Other than some minor loose threads in the corners, this thing looks great!!!!! A word of caution, this poncho seems to have a heavy vinyl/poly/silicone/something coating on one side of the nylon, and as a result will likely not breath at all. All ventilation will have to come from how you do the snaps and wear the poncho...despite this, I find the poncho perfect. All my goretex and eVent stuff eventually wets out on the surface and I drown in my own sweat anyway...better to have a fully waterproof poncho that can get killer ventilation than stew in your own sweat in a goretex rain coat. A final word on size and weight. Mine came tightly packed. I couldn't get it back down as compact but the total size re-packed is about 5.5"x7" square and 3" thick. As far as weight goes, you have probably seen the other reviews - its not an ultra-light poncho. Mine came in at exactly 28oz or 1.75lbs. For me, the extra weight over a frog tog or lightweight silnylon poncho is worth the extra durability that comes with it. update: I went to the manufactures website to get the poncho specs (the manufacture's website is miltec.de) and using google translate (its all in german) found the following specs for this poncho: Coated 100% polyester, polyvinyl chloride ripstop Dimensions: 210 x 150 cm Weight: 630 g for those that don't know, polyvinyl chloride commonly goes by the abreviation pvc. so what you are getting is a ripstop polyester poncho with an internal PVC coating. Still a great poncho!

Heaviest fit poncho you can buy nowadays, aka almost like the old type ponchos
This ponchos quality is great. I have Fox, Rothco and FireForce (great quality light) ponchos. If I’m thru hiking and trying to go Ultra Light I go w my high quality FireForce light weight poncho. It could be used as a tarp or poncho easily in the California portion of the trail. However, if I’m at our cabin up in Washington State which is a virtual rain force in winter I pull out this Mil-Tec beast poncho! For heavy constant rain, this beast does the trick. Unlike modern ponchos the inside seems to be rubberized. It is heavy, but, man the thing can shed water all day. Using it as a tarp, it is equal to any heavy duty tarp you can buy at Home Depot. It is true ripstop material. Also the color is a true dark pattern German Flecktarn perfect for Pacific NortWest, British Columbia, Sierra Nevada deep woods! Being an old Army Vet from the 80’s, this poncho about as close as you can get to the old heavy duty Army ponchos we were issued. Thankfully not quite as heavy in weight, but the material and water proofing just as strong. Also the snaps on the poncho can be used with a second one to make a huge 2 man pup tent. Or a 1 man 2 woman pup tent (ha ha, wishful). There are only a couple of negatives: 1) it’s strength of being the most heavy duty poncho on the market also makes it is heavy at 28oz 2) it is only 80” long. I am 5’9” (69”) so I just fit with a bit of overhang to hide out from the rain. But if I were over 6’2”+ might get a little tight for rain coverage. But, though about 5-10” shorter than other ponchos, on the plus size it sure won’t leak and seemingly could hold up to very heavy winds!!!!! Using it asymmetrically solves the coverage length issue.
