This is great. It is so easy to use on a Westie. It leaves the dog with its hard coat, trims it down while keeping a neat appearance. The dogs don't mind it and one seems to be soothed by using it. It's a great alternative when they are older and you want to move away from a lot of stripping. The #12 works very well on my Westie with a very heavy coat. The #16 would probably work better on my Westie that does not have such a thick coat but the #16 was not available at the time. All things considered, it is still great!

Success, finally...
I've tried everything to work out horrible mats on my Miniature Poodle. Nothing had worked. Finally, I tried this dematting brush and it worked. Mats seem to happen so fast on her curly coat. She is normally in a traditional poodle cut. I used Ice Ice detangling/dematting spray by Chris Christensen on each individual mat first. (Depending how tight and close to the skin they are..) I then went to work gently trying to pull the mat apart best I could, then used the dematting brush. It all takes patience. But, truly this tool was the only "tool" that worked. Usually, she is professionally groomed and really no in-between visit problems. However, shes gone over-due, then rolled in mud outside and my daughter bathed her which, if you know, my poodle needs thorough brushing on a dry coat before getting wet or bathing and if not, the hair mats up, and any mats present get tighter. Hope this review helps. I've spent a ton of money trying to find a solution. Wish I went to this first.

Wow!
I have a Wire Fox Terrier puppy and I wanted to get her groomed traditionally as her breed calls for, hand stripping. I could not find a groomer who would do it. Then when I managed to find one, she sorta made excuses and didn't want to do it which completely bummed me out. I wanted to learn myself but as she's a puppy she's still very wiggly and I don't have any other equipment to help with that. That's when I found this. Originally I was just brushing her with one of those wire combs and it got hair out, but this was a game changer! The first time I used it I got enough hair to make a new puppy! It is amazing how much hair it got out and was also very easy to get off the brush. I can tell she also loves the feel of the brush because it's one of the times I can get her to be still for a few minutes. Overall I would definitely recommend this product for dogs with that wiry hair.

Man...this tool is amazing!
I have 2 Jack Russell terriers, one with a broken coat and the other a rough coat. My little female that has the rough coat has very fine long hair and when I use my professional comb on her I have to be gentle as it's kinda like combing out a little kids snarly hair but this tool (for as savage as it looks) works amazingly well. I won't use it all the time but for times when her coat starts to get a little out of control. Well worth the money. Highly recommend this tool. My breeder had recommended this tool to me as she uses it on all her Russells and the great thing is that it's made in Germany and everything I've EVER owned made in Germany is high quality!

Best tool for stripping a Border Terrier - much easier than hand stripping and just as good.
We have a border terrier that was getting badly shabby; I tried hand stripping and whilst the dog was fine with it she is a year old and staying still for any period of time, even during the evening was challenging. I researched many of these tools but decided that I would settle on the Mars Coat King because it was the 'original' with a great reputation. I have to say that I have been delighted with the tool. The tool is made from high quality materials (stainless steel, brass, and hardwood) and is light in the hand but not too light that you need to use pressure. I literally pulled the tool through the dogs coat with no downward pressure and it worked wonders - after 10minutes or so (I wasnt watching the clock so this is a guess!) our dog looked amazing with a huge pile of old stale fur next to her. In fact, she enjoyed it so much she just lay down and rolled over so I could do the bits we hadnt done!

Takes time but works!
Saw this on a Springer Spaniel page. Easy to use just takes a lot of brushing. Pulls out old, dry hair leaving shiny hair. Surprised how well it works, not sure our dog likes.

This brush works great for shedding.
Purchased this for my shedding 2 year old long coat Chihuahua. Removes loose undercoat without pulling and hurting my baby. Does not eliminate shedding but decreases the hair I have to vacuum up around the house. A great grooming aid for a long coat breed.

Best shedding tool around by far
Takes a while to learn how to best use on your dog's fur, but once you have that mastered- bingo. I have an Australian Shepherd and when I mislaid it during my recent move I was lost. Can't do without. I was ready to buy another one when I finally found it.
