Many sweet songs, makes you want to practice-practice!
I happily purchased three of RH guitar music books: Yellow, Red & Blue. (Lovely, quality graphic design on covers, unique - I appreciate the visual). However, most likely will not be able to venture into Vol. 1 or 2 for a long while. No matter, 'cuz PLENTY enough information, music and yes..excitement to keep you learning and playing in the Yellow-Method Book, (at least for a self-taught beginner, plucking ever so slowly towards intermediate). NOW, I see a Vol. 3, Green. :) I may have to buy just to complete my colorful array of RH volumes. WELL worth the money, very fair pricing. Importantly, the music is readable, in terms of the "printed" page. Some music I've purchased, is not so easy on the eyes. Also, just many, many beautiful notes here, (crafted by the author), both ear + heart warming..propels practice. (FYI: I learned about Roger Hudson's songs, via my 1st guitar books, by Stanley Yates, Vol. 1 & 2).

This method book really seems to click with me
I've been playing guitar for a couple of years. At first it was just learning chords, learning songs, strumming along, rinse repeat. But I started taking lessons at the local college, and got interested in reading sheet music and fingerstyle/classical. However, I found sight reading really difficult, and dreaded practicing it. My instructor and I tried some well known lesson books, method books, and repertoire books, and I was making progress but slowly. This semester, we started with Roger Hudson's new book, and it seems to be just what I need at this point. With the other books, the jump in difficulty from one piece to the next seemed a bit too much for me. This book seems to take smaller steps in difficulty. Also, the music just seems more enjoyable to me than the other books, even though the pieces seem easier.I've only been using it for a month and not too far in to it, so don't consider this a complete review. But I'm so happy with it at this point, I wanted to encourage you try this out if you're having trouble with other method books.

Highly Recommended for Students, Teachers, and Performers!
This method covers extensive ground for the budding classical and fingerstyle guitarist. Hudson’s approach is easy to understand and progresses through a broad selection of tunes and styles, while still covering much needed foundations such as scales, harmony, and technique.Students and professionals will thoroughly enjoy the repertoire in this book. Hudson’s compositions and arrangements literally take the reader around the world.Styles covered include: blues, jazz, folk, world music, and standard classical guitar pieces by Bach, Carcassi, Carulli, Beethoven, Satie, and others. Most of the selections in the book are concert and gig friendly, especially Hudson’s own stylish originals, including: Blue Stairways, Sambavacation, and Rainy Scene. The book is rounded out with Pachebel’s Canon and even some well arranged Christmas tunes.Techniques include: classical “planting”, Travis picking, Fingerstyle Blues, Alternating Bass, Counterpoint, and legato exercises.I highly recommend this book for students, teachers, and performers wanting to spice up their repertoire. I use this book as a course requirement for my guitar students at St. Petersburg College and Florida Southern College. I also perform quite a few of the pieces at my gigs.Highly Recommended!!

Excellent, thorough, logical method book.
I used Roger's method for years when I was teaching group guitar classes. It is very well structured and logical, and reinforces key concepts through repetition. The material is engaging and challenging for adults, but I could still easily get a room of 20 middle-schoolers to make sense of it. I also highly recommend this book for my private students. It contains much more pleasing repertoire than any other guitar method I have seen. First rate.
