it depends on the pressure.I purchased several different stands and this is one is excellent.It is very stable when used with normal pressure. It will wiggle somewhat if abnormally higher pressure is applied to the screen.

But can you confirm it holds a 1 inch thick device? (I have a tablet for the kids with protective case, that is 0.98 inches thick).

Q: Would this hold and fit an iPad Pro 12.9 with an otter box case?

I don't have an iPad Pro 12.9 inch,but I just made a measure for the bigger holder clip,I think if the width of ipad with otter box case is over 10.43inch(26.5cm), the bigger holder clip will not hold and fit.
