Coffee wherever, at home, hotel, camping
I had a couple of these before from another company. I used them for various reasons, and when I wanted to use it recently, I seemed to have misplaced them. I wanted to have these on hand enough that I purchased another similar set, but from different company. Which brings me to this review. They are a simple design. I have used them in my kitchen, in a hotel room, while camping, and even on the go when I wanted coffee but didn't have access to a brewer (I keep one in my truck along with other supplies- never know where I may end up, and I better have coffee available). Have a hot water option on water cooler at work? Boom! Make some of your own coffee when you want it at your desk. Currently, I use it in addition, or rather as a change from our Keurig. I dont always want a k-cup, or rather, sometimes I just want to have some brewed coffee. I have a coffee maker, but since I don't often use it, I have it tucked away. I do however usually have a water kettle nearby and ready to use. So with my fresh ground coffee of choice, a #2 coffee filter (though #4 works in a pinch), a coffee mug of any size, and this silicone "coffee maker", I set out to make a surprisingly good cup of coffee. I get my mug, place the silicone coffee maker on top, put my filter in place, dump in some good coffee, then slowly pour hot water over the coffee. It drips into cup. I add more water as I see fit. Sometimes I have a second mug ready, and what I do is then take the "coffee maker" and place it on the new mug, then pour the fresh brewed coffee through the filter again. Basically a double brew. If it is too strong, I just add a tad more water to taste. I don't know why, but this simple method has made some of the smoothest tasting coffee, and I love strong black coffee. Then I simply clean up with a quick rinse of the "coffee maker", and once it is dry, I collapse it back into its flat state. These come in a pack of two with two carabiners for optional use. If you don't have freshly hot/boiled water, the next thing that can be done is to use as hot as possible tap water. Not preferred, but works in a pinch when you need a dose of caffeine on the go. Altogether I have 4 of these. The "misplaced" two are likely in my truck already. These two new ones are likely going to live in my kitchen. At least one for sure. The other might go into my every day carry purse/bag along with some coffee and a filter. As for the shape, the widest part of the bottom is to sit on top of a coffee mug. The holes for drip brew is just along the bottom at the narrowest part of the contraption. The conical shape is for the filter, coffee, and pouring hot water. It all collapses into a flat circle when it is not needed. It is just a cool little thing to have!

Purchase and use this for fresh brewed coffee in the woods!
Yay! Fresh brewed coffee while camping! The unit is competitively priced, actually a little less expensive than other silicone coffee filters. It stores easily in my pack, I keep mine in my mess kit stuff sack. Clean up is easy, once the filter is removed simply pour some warm water over the unit-presto! Yes, you have to bring filters and deal with the clean up- but, if you use the natural filters that are biodegradable, you can bury them. I pack mine out along with other waste materials. Great product that I recommend to anyone who NEEDS fresh brewed coffee while camping.

Super packable pourover coffee cones.
Have you ever gone to a hotel room and didn't like their coffee maker, or it didn't work? Do you travel or backpack and like to make your own coffee? Do you like to tinker around with new gadgets in the kitchen? Yes, yes, and yes! These little silicon wonders are just the cure for so many caffeine emergencies! We always have these in our luggage now, with a couple of paper filters and enough coffee to make a few cups. It is the easiest and oldest drip method known. Pourover coffee is not a NEW concept. Just ask Melitta, as they set the standard decades ago. So easy to just put your coffee in a paper cone in this silicone cone and set it on your mug. Then you pour boiling water over the dry coffee and wait. So simple, and there's no coffee pot to wash! You can hand wash these or send them through the dishwasher, and they don't care a bit. They will come out looking beautiful and ready to make you another cup.

Packs great.
These have been great. I had to look up how to get a good strong coffee with these since the water drips through so fast. Let me save some readers a google search.1. Put in 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds for every 6-8 oz of water.2. Pour in just enough hot water to wet the gounds, stirring to get as much of them wet as possible. This is key if you like your coffee on stronger side.3. Wait a minute.4. Pour in the rest of your measured hot water.

Drip needs some tweaking. Update 02.04.2015 Like!
I have to say I was very excited to order these. My only disappointment is filters don't fit as I would like them to, that could be a personal preference. The shape of the filter does not seem appropriate for the filters out there--but I probably need to try different filters. I do like that is collapsible and portable.I would like to see it updated with some kind of filter basket already in it on--the oblong shaped part. so as not to have to put a paper filter in it. I bought 2 specifically to try one and the other for my brother while he and family go camping.Update 02/04/2015I am happy to say I have used the silicone coffee drip several more times and found that a regular filter does work well and it is quicker than I thought. I am enjoy this since I use it when I go to my parent's house and prefer pour over coffee. As for tweaking, maybe asking too much...I think some kind of permanent filter would be nice.

Good to Go
These two drip coffee cones seem indestructible and certainly pack into the nooks and crannies of our suitcase--that's where they are now awaiting our trip to Greece and Turkey. Since we are not fans of Turkish coffee and we are staying at an airbnb they seem like the perfect solution to the perfect cup of coffee--American style. The proof will be in the pudding. We are armed with our #2 filters, our collapsible cups and ground coffee. What else could we need? Steaming hot water!

Works well, but small
These work fine for camping. Be forewarned that they are a couple of inches shorter than the standard plastic or ceramic pour over unit, which typically fit #4 filters. These barely fit #2 filters and you will have to pour the water in at least twice if not three times to get a full cup of coffee.

Compact, and worth it! I have several in various packs, campers, etc.
Does the job. I like it! Not much else to say except you can also use a standard coffee filter if you trim a little less than 3/4" from the edge of filter. I fold several times in to a triangle then it's easier to trim. Great for the pack or emergencies.
