I bought a kalimba and want to be able to play it properly. Most of the books out there only teach songs such a nursery rhymes for children but I didn’t really want to play baa baa black sheep I prefer something like canon. This does have children’s music but also adult songs too so good for both child or adult kalimba players. Review: Excellent Book 👍 - Easy to Play, for Beginners like Myself. Great and Lovely Old Music.

where to put the book whilst reading the notes.
The book would have been better if spiral bound but I have found a way, I stand the book on my cookery book stand secure with 2 pegs and I am away. I hope this might help.

Great traditional tunes
Just what I wanted. Good explanation of how to read different types of Kalimba notation. Great old songs- haven’t played the Minstrel Boy since I had an accordion from a junk shop 60 years ago! Hours of fun!

A Great Songbook for Kalimba Beginners!
Contrary to what other reviewers have said about this songbook, I think this is a wonderful songbook for kalimba beginners. It includes basic information on musical notation and how to read it (for those who've never taken music lessons or who need a refresher after being away from music for many years). The songs are generally simple songs, which is where kalimba beginners should start. Yes, many of the songs are old folk songs but there are also a few hymns, Christmas songs and the like. These songs are all in the public domain, which means you're not paying royalties when you buy the songbook. If you master a great many of the songs in the book, then you'll be ready for more challenging songs. Just be aware there aren't a lot of songs written specifically for the kalimba. You'll have to become musically proficient enough to adapt today's popular songs to the kalimba you're playing. I believe this songbook is a great value and a very useful resource for those learning the kalimba without a musical background.
