54 Watercolor Pen Set

Great pens for colouring in and a good range of vibrant colours.

Watercolour overall is a medium I don't have a lot of experience with, but these pens do their job extremely well. They're a little tricky to use, so make sure you're holding them properly otherwise you'll end up accidentally colouring outside of your sketch. 😆 They provide you with free tutorials (+ a few pre-made sketches in the drawing pad) which are excellent for beginners. For each lesson you have a short video (~7 mins) + some written information about the colours used in the tutorial & standard colouring techniques. I'm someone who gets easily distracted so having the information split into smaller chunks (as these lessons do) made me follow them with no complaints. Two small nitpicks however: 1) Pen 05 - Emerald had already dried up by the time I opened the pack (looks like a slight manufacturing issue - see pic for small hole in the plastic casing). It's still somewhat usable but you can't get much pigment out of it anymore. 2) Some of the colours used in the tutorial seem slightly darker than what's provided in the pack even though they have the same codes/names. Still giving them 5* for how fun and smooth the entire experience is.

These pens are literally what they say they are: easy to use, very flexible tips,a massive variety of colours and it does include a booklet of drawings to practice on and 4 waterbrush pens with long barrels with a variety of tips in different sizes and shapes. These pens are numbered and labelled on the side and the end of the barrel has the colour of the ink to make things more convenient. The ink is very vibrant and easy to break down with water, they blend well and if used with the right paper (Canson XL is a good option) the outcomes are astonishing, when you use the ink without water the edges can be a little rough in texture but when water is added it becomes really smooth . Some colours come out a little too light but depending on your preference you might find it just fine. For 54 pens and a booklet for this amount of money is awesome and is extremely worth it. Please keep in mind that when trying to refill the waterbrushes you must twist the tops the opposite way of what you would normally do (left= tighten right = loosen). Definitely would recommend.

I bought these as a treat to myself, I couldn't afford the more expensive ones but I went with the ones that had the best reviews in my budget and these are them! I'm brand new to watercolour, I make cards and want to bring something different to the table. These pens are so easy to use! You can blend them easily and the colours are bright! I got the 54 pack and there's every colour you could ever want and more. They dry surprisingly quick which is great. I've only great things to say about these and from watching the videos on YouTube, they are going to last me quite some time!

I am a raving fan! I chose these thinking they might be good for a beginner, and didn't realize what a great purchase they are. The brush pens are exceptional - beginner and expert alike will find they are fabulous tools. The colors are rich and vibrant. The pad is high quality and performs beautifully. The most exciting part for me is the outstanding video tutorials. They are clear and easy to follow. Perfect instruction for anyone looking to take up watercolour painting in general as well as using these brush pens. Finally, Chromatek themselves are fantastic. I had questions and they were answered immediately with helpful responses and delightful communication. If you are thinking about these, I encourage you to get them!

3 ⭐️’s due to the pro’s and con’s of these brush pens. The pro’s are some lovely colours, well pigmented, swatch sheet’s, small watercolour pad, nice brush heads, no dry pens, nice to hold, tuts to watch for beginners. The con’s are, difficult to get an even wash and feel rushed as colours don’t move well once dry (unlike true watercolours). I prefer to use my own brushes as not keen on the ones that came with the pens. This last is not really a pro or con, it just really annoys me, as the colour names seem all wrong (uploaded a couple of swatch cards and you may see what I mean). The Brilliant Yellow seems more like Lemon to me whereas the Brilliant Yellow looks like a Canary Yellow. The Light Pink is darker than the Medium pink. Peach Pink does not look peach coloured due to the purple running through it. Amethyst doesn’t seem to look like amethyst and I could go on and on. Have they stuck the wrong colour names on the wrong pens? I’d love to know. Probably wouldn’t buy again but it’s early days and they might grow on me.

Chromatek is a fantastic company & well, they know it. Their site is quite frank about that, stating their watercolor pens (& Glitter pens) are THE best ANYWHERE in the world. Annnnnd well, they're right! These are FANTASTIC!!! The second I used this set (bought during Prime Days Yay!) I was in love. These are NOT for your coloring books people! Nor cheap paper (go with a pad of Canon XL WC paper, 16$ here on Amazon). These are made to paint with, using water- period. I would suggest you have some experience working with watercolor before buying these since they're a technical tool & also an investment. The colors are SO GORGEOUS & SO PIGMENTED! The brush tips are wonderfully made & the ink behaves abso stunningly. You can lay down color & tease the ink with the included water brushes to create some amazing results. I even managed to create washes, layers & blends on my 1st try. I have several sets of high end watercolor pens, pans & pencils like Faber Castell, Tombow, Inktense etc and these beat them all hands down. It's honestly like working with something brand new to the art supply world! Like your pans of watercolors but somehow way better. You might expect a small learning curve.. I'm a home artist with a few yrs of art & painting experience & after watching the tutorials, I was totally set. They're very well done, step by step. On top of the dozens of free tutorials, you get free paper & pre-printed scenes to paint, free water pens, free viewing of all their videos, free template downloads etc etc. I got a good deal on Prime Day but def wish I'd scored the 100 count set just because the colors are so beautiful & they work so well. A solid 10/10!!!! And if you are into coloring books, drawing, art etc like me, try their Gel pens. They are THE BEST too- Chromatek beats Sakura Gelly Rolls completely. The ink is like liquid crystals. I left a 10/10 review on that product page as well. Absolutely worth it, I can't recommend this company enough!!

I have tried sooooo many different brands of these watercolour pens, & have had a distinct favourite for a long time now.... Then, I received these pens today & every other one Uve ever tried, pales by comparison. These pebs are far superior which is evident from thr very first stroke of the pens! So beautiful to hold, smoothe & so extraordinarily easy to use.....Tge company also provides a book and online tutorials which are AMAZING! I didn't know til I got these that I actually have never really known or been made aware of how tgey are supposed to be used....the tutorials REALLLLLY HELP & are soooo user friendly....I will never purchase ANY OTHER BRAND THAN THESE EVER AGAIN. Thank you soooo much ..

Muy buena presentación y al usarlo se ve la buena calidad. Lindos colores y al ponerle el agua da buenos efectos de acuarela, quedando mejor esos efectos si se usa papel para acuarela.
