Wild One Hardcover – Picture Book, February 23, 2018

I cannot overemphasize our love for this book. It is just so perfect for any wild toddler/child in your life. It has beautiful pictures, clever rhyming and encourages your child to nurture her/his inner wild spirit by seeing her/himself as fun animals in the wild. Plus, as a parent, the scenes are so relatable (crawling like a snail?! YES!). We stumbled on this book in the library, purchased it for ourselves and have gifted it many times over. We LOVE this book!

This padded book with sturdy pages is one that is well suited to be read again and again, which is exactly what I think will happen in your home. It is the story of a little girl’s joyful trip to the playground and her adventures as she explores every activity.I loved this delightful book for some many reasons and here they are:- The joy I found on every page - especially on the little girl’s face- Children spending a day outside being a “wild one”- The delightful illustrations- The similes. For example: “stretching like a cat”, “slipping like an eel” and “gulping like a whale”. Oh, the discussions you can have as your little one acts out each description!- The opportunity to discuss vocabulary like “snuggling” and “bounding”- The coziness on the last few pages as mom and dad tuck her in after her exhausting dayThis charming story deserves to be on every child’s bookshelf. It’s definitely on my shopping list!

I love how this book is all about playtime and exploration. My kids really loved how the girl became many different animals. And as a mom, I liked how it showed an end-of-day routine and how much the girl's mom cared for her.
