It is a good net, spreads better. I lost this same net before coz i cast it over rocks. then i bought another brand named super spreader which was crap. I would say the super spreader is the only net i found difficult to cast. the material is too stiff and weights cheap. but this one (AHI) is awesome. I forgot its name at first but then i found the plastic container it came with later, thereby enabling me to search. even if you put 'cast net' search in amazon, this net won't appear. I wonder why amazon has this shi**Y search system which always show crap first.Update: Lost my first net and bought the second net recently. same good quality. spreads good. good lead weights. I have tried Ahi nylon net but the problem is that their slender weights gets tangled to nylon webbing due to its shape. but this one, which is mono does not!. Still wish they used round lead weights than elongated ones.

About my experience level. I have been cast netting both coastal and inland for over 20 years.This net compared to the 9ft high tensle strength net they make is lackluster at best. I love their 9 ft and have had no problems with it. The problem with this net seems to be the material in the construction. the break points of the netting itself are to numerous and when catching any type of spiny fish from small carp to pin fish can cause the net to tear. Though this allows for less weight, weight is not as important as being able to use the net. I had three medium sized carp get in the net and totally ripped it apart, now these fish were not over 3 pounds each, and destroyed the net. I will not be purchasing another one, and will call amazon in an attempt to return as I have purchased (sadly forced too because no one else had them) a net from walmart that withstood a larger haul, and isnt in constant need of repair from casting for bait. I tend to need to buy a new net once a year, as the company my old net came from was a hand made company they no longer sell or produce the nets for some reason. I will look elsewhere for a better quality net.That said I still love their 9ft super strong net, but would love to see the company go and apply the same line strength to a smaller form factor net.

I was looking for a net that sinks fast, after buying numerous nets from Walmart I found this one. I am not the best caster but with this 5 footer I can pretty much cast it to the other side of the canal!! It's hard to find a 5 feet net with 5/8 mesh in stores. It opens well also. Getting ready to purchase another one for my cousin!

My net arrived today and I feel obligated to write this review.As with every cast I've ever purchased I took this one outsideto stretch and stake it open. Much to my surprise this 8' netdoes not open to the 16' that every other net I've ever purchased.The vertical height of the net is in fact 8' but the lack of adequatewebbing throughout the circumference of the net does not allow thenet to open to the 16' that it should. The manufacturer did not takeinto consideration the fact that when the circumference of the webbingis stretched, the total height is reduced due to the string no longerbeing straight.When the webbing opens the height is reduced!This advertized 8' net should be 16' when open but only opens to 13' 6".EDIT:After doing some simple 3rd grade math.....C = 3.14 X DC = 3.14 X 16C = 50.24The circumference of the lead line on my net is NOT 50',It's only 40'. And, I've changed my rating from 3 starsto 1.I wish I would have sent it back as soon as I realized it'snot as advertized.

Great cast net. The Ahi USA 400 Series Cast Net, 5 Feet drops real fast when casted. Also has led weights, something I've been looking for. I do not like the new cast nets that have the ceramic weights. They don't sink fast enough. Well thanks and have fun casting your new cast net.

Value for money! I got what I hope for at the best price I could found. I think the next net will be of the same make.

Bought it as a gift - they loved it and said it was well made and the weight was appropriate.
