Lucifer (2018-) Vol. 2: The Divine Tragedy

Lucifer at his best
I've been a Lucifer fan for years and this is the best Lucifer story I've read since the original run finished. Loved the artwork. The story veered into more horror than I'd usually read, but it always felt in service to the story they were telling than for shock value. Can't wait for volume 3!

“Lucifer – The Divine Tragedy” collects issues #7-13 of yet another Vertigo book that has, with its second volume, (and a British writer), regained the heights not seen since the heyday of this imprint.I found the first volume “to be a bit heavy going”, but, as with the second volume of ‘The Dreaming’ which I read a few days ago, I started reading and from the first page I was hooked and just ploughed on to the end. While having its own story, this is definitely a sequel to the recent three-volume series and to Mike Carey’s epic first series, as well as to the original Sandman & Dreaming. It has history, continuity, several artists who all manage to keep a consistent ‘feel’, and is just sheer entertainment. This is Vertigo reborn, with a new generation of creators, for a new generation of readers, and the old generation too.
