As "fun" as a litter box can be.
I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a motorized, self-cleaning litter box so, when I saw the Omega Paw, I was instantly attracted. The price was right and I wouldn't have to worry about injuries, mechanical failures or the lack of the inclusion of a cover in the initial price.I read most of the positive And negative reviews on Amazon, for this product. After much consideration, discussion and shopping around, I made the decision to purchase this product on Amazon.I purchased the Large Omega Paw instead of the regular, because of the reviews. For me, the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box is 99%c Pro, 1%Con. Here's Why:1.) Price. After doing some in-store comparisions, (Walmart, Target, Pet Co) I found that the price for the Omega was comparable for the function compared to standard litter pans and hoods that are priced separately. Most quality hard plastic pans and hoods would cost $15-$20 together. Sure, that's less than the Omega but, the pans and hoods don't have the unique function of the Omega. The large Omega costs $35 and I was able to get it with free shipping. The only retailer in my area that could possibly carry the Omega was Pet Co (I checked and even looked at Walmart and Target, etc) and they did not have any in stock. The friendly and helpful employee at Pet Co suggested I check on the Pet Co website, (I already had) and suggested that I might receive an S&H deal, (I would not have). For me, this was a good deal.2. Function. The Omega is simple to use. It comes with a paper pamphlet but, the instructions are also molded into the plastic hardtop cover. Roll the Omega all the way over. You can see the clumps fall to the top and then to the side, the clean litter is filtered through the slits of the screen and the clumps fall into the pan. roll back over and onto the other side and then upright. Easy as that. Take out the pan, empty it out and place it back in and you have a clean litter box. I was using a litter purchased from Aldi's but, I purchased a box of Special Kitty clumping litter 28 lbs for $9. Comparable to most budget friendly litters. It works really well and does not hold the urine smell like the Aldi's brand did.3. Quality. This is a plastic contraption. Plastic wears over time and breaks. I read a lot of complaints about the "latches" on the Omega. The "latches" are plastic sliders that don't always easily glide into the corresponding slots. I found that I have to align the sliders and slots visually and then add pressure to slide each side into place. None of my sliders were broken when I received this via S&H. If I had purchased in-store, I would have looked first to make sure the sliders weren't broken, I still suggest that buyers do that, if purchasing in-store.It can be a little tricky to make sure the plastic sliders are fully engaged with the corresponding slots but all it's very simple to focus your attention on aligning the sliders with the slots and then use gentle weight to make sure the sliders and slots are engaged and then slide into place. Sounds like work? It really isn't.3. Ease of use: Very easy. There is a slight learning curve but, it's very slight. It's actually pretty fun to use, as fun as it can be to clean a litter box. It sure beats using a scoop to take out every individual clump.4. Cleaniness: The Omega is a pretty tidy structure. My kitty was a stray we took in. She took to be a homebody pretty quickly but, you can see her stray habits in the way that she eats and uses the litter box. My kitty is pretty keen on covering her scat and has no qualms about keeping her litter in the box. The Omega contains all of the litter spray with only bits and pieces of litter on the floor before the box that come from her stepping out with dirty paws. My kitty is also pretty particular about a clean litter box. Before the Omega, I would clean her litter box out once every other day but, with the Omega? I have no qualms about cleaning it Every Day. It's That easy and kind of fun to use.The Con: I only wish that the Omega came with a flap for the entrance. One reviewer submitted a picture showing that they had added a flap and, it seems like it would be relatively simple to do, without comprimising the structure.Even if the sliders break, i'm not the type of person that's just going to chuck this in the trash. I'll find a way to make it work with zip ties or twisty ties or duct tape or, whatever. You might argue that for $35 bucks, the quality should be better and stuff shouldn't break. Well...what else are you going to find that's like the Omega, for $35? As far as I looked, Nothing. If you want to spend $50+ on something else, go ahead. As for me and my family? We're very happy with the Omega and will make it work for us. Even if it does break down in the future, we'll wait to see what Omega's customer service does for us. Who knows? They might be very accomodating. Thanks for putting this product out, Omega!

A great product with a bit of a learning curve
I absolutely hated this litter box until I loved it. I attribute this to several things, including an unwillingness to peer inside its cavernous hole and an aversion to reading directions. Litter type is very important in the use of this box. I am now using World’s Best Cat Litter, and I can confirm, relative to other brands I have tried, it is the best, both in terms of clumping and odor suppression.I am not entirely sure why I had such difficulties using this box initially. I was making quite a mess and was extremely frustrated after my first few attempts of using it. I cried when dirty litter spewed out all over the floor after I turned the box upside down and couldn’t believe I had been dumb enough to try such a thing. I went back to the reviews and couldn’t understand all the strong ratings. I delighted in my fellow consumers’ mishaps who rated it one star and pumped my fist in the air in joyous solidarity with the reviewer who suggested all the 5-star reviews had been planted and that this box was indeed a lying piece of junk. Then for some reason, a few weeks after I had been scooping a regular box old-school style and killing my back like I was panning for gold, I decided to give the "self-cleaner" another try. After all, the helpful video reviewer left visual proof of this product’s efficiency and ease.First, don’t kid yourself, this box does not belong in the dining room. Or the kitchen. It belongs in a bathroom or utility room or best of all a basement. And I would say this is just true of any litter box. So that was my first mistake – thinking I could keep it near the kitchen. Gross.Next – the clips are extremely important. You must diligently check them every single time you roll this thing over. Just a hair out of line and you will be sorry. Most importantly: DO NOT OVERFILL THIS BOX WITH LITTER. Ultimately, I think this is where I went wrong. All advice, from the litter, the box, the vet etc. told me to fill it with 3 inches of litter. That is totally ridiculous. That is what caused my clips to give way and spill litter on the floor. That is a totally unmanageable amount of litter to be throwing around. If you are cleaning your box every day or every other day, your cats do not need this much litter to move around in.Fill the box with maybe an inch and a half, or possibly two, of litter (just on the side that is accessible to the cat. Make sure the lid is truly aligned to the bottom pan. Close the clips tightly. When ready to clean, SLOWLY, for God sake’s SLOWLY, roll your pan to the right, allowing the clean litter to slide through the grating and the solid waste to pop over into the drawer. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of doing this slowly. Not only will litter not go all over your floor, but you will lose less clean litter to the drawer.Do not return the box to its upright position yet. At this point in the process you must LOOK INSIDE THE BOX. It will be mostly empty, as the clean litter is now hidden behind the grate. There will be 1-3 large clumps of wet litter stuck to the bottom of the box. I don’t know why. Simply use a regular scoop to pop these up and throw them into the trash. They should slide right up like disgusting cookies. I store my scoop in a pretty bin I got from the dollar store. NOW roll the box to the left, and let all the clean litter fall back into the main part of the box. Give it a little shake to even the litter out. Empty the drawer of its contents. And in less than five minutes you have cleaned your box. It’s that simple and wonderful. I do it every day. When this box needs replacing, I will buy another.

Prob best litter box ever.
Helps with:- Keeping litter contained.- Keeping your hands litter free while cleaning up after kitty- Easy to use- Reduces odours- Reduces sound of cat's using the litter box (think about at night if live in a smaller place)- Reduces visible sights- Cats (mine at least) love it, and seem to appreciate added privacy with larger opening still allowing them not feel trapped (if you cat does seem to be paranoid in it, after mine had his 'boys' removed he was pretty timid for a few weeks, once his cone was off I removed the slide out tray so he had an extra opening, think would work as well for any cat feels trapped easily, rescues etc)- Looks cool- Did I mention it helps keep litter contained? This thing is no joke, really does work as described great quality materials think same kinda stuff they make plastic dog crates etc out of so durable but lightweight.Just roll it, toss it back down as indicated and take your kitty poo's off to the disposal, one and done.I have a short-haired domestic who just loves going into his litter box and "investigating", also loves whipping litter as hard as he possibly can with his paws. When first got him this caused some major problems as I live in a 2 bedroom condo, not a large one I should say too, but with this litter box now he can go nuts and do his business happily without getting litter everywhere, suspiciously he also seemed to become less interested once he couldn't blast it all over the room.Highly recommend pairing this with one litter mat(black rubber type material with a hex pattern, prob see on "bought together" like I did) can get on amazon too, I put this box just on open-ended edge of the mat, keeps mat in place and when kitty hops out he has somewhere get litter off his paws, again without dragging through our shared condo space xD

Well Worth It!
This is truly an amazing product. I was a little sceptical initially when I ordered it, but have, after it has come found it really very useful.Do keep in mind that this functions only with the clumping litter, and I have been using it with Pura clumping litter (which one has to buy separately) . It could also be a good idea to put out a rubber mat in front so that what ever sticks to the cats paws when he/she comes out it caught there and does not spread all around the house. We have 1 cat and clean this once a day. We've been using this for about a month now - and are happy with it. Yes, its a bit expensive but, if you dont want to scoop through the litter every day, get this!

FORGET THE SCOOP USE THIS INSTEAD!
i have 2 large cats and used 2 huge litter boxes to accommodate them. I used a full 7kg pail of litter in each. I had to constantly dig around and sift to find their droppings. I was breathing in some the dust and the dust would get on my hands. There was always litter on the mat from the cats either digging or on their feet when they exited so i was constantly vacuuming . I have seen the tumble litter boxes before but never thought they would work. i was wrong!!This thing is awesome at a great price. I paid $80 for the jumbo ones and half the price for this one. Putting it together was a snap and used less litter is used. I clean it every couple of days but only because I was used to doing it that way and also my cats took a while before trying it out. I still had 1 of the jumbo ones there. I noticed right away that there was hardly any litter on the mat because the entry was smaller and higher than the jumbo ones. You just tumble it over slowly and all the clumped and solid stuff goes into that collection drawer. You don't have to be exposed to any of the dust. Then you deposit the waste right from the drawer into a bag and out it goes. It comes with a scoop too and i only used it because one cat likes to pee on the sides so that part had to be scraped as well as when they dig too far and pee on the bottom of the box. It will stick and it has to be scraped but it beats the old way 100 percent!
