Excellent book
This is a beautifully produced volume of easy to intermediate level repertoire for the classical guitar. The pieces cover all periods from renaissance to contemporary. The scores are very clearly presented and easy to read. The difficulty level of pieces are graded as 1 or 2. Fingering is included. There is no tabs (a plus in my opinion). I highly recommend this book of graded repertoire for players who can read music and who have progressed beyond the early beginner level.

No CD
Unlike the first book in the series this one doesn't come with a CD which is a disappointment. I wish they were spiral bound too.

Great To Push A First-Year Adult Learner [Not A Good First Book!]
I'm an adult learner (30) coming up on one year of lessons. This book has pieces that are attainable, but only if I really practice and try. I've focused more on the Grade II rather than Grade I difficulty, because those pieces are more rewarding. I'm not going to lie, they're challenging, and my teacher has had to help me with my technique in numerous places, but I really have enjoyed the ones I've played so far. By far, my favorite is the excerpt from the JK Mertz Nocturne. Why four stars? The author skips the classical era, and I'm less fond of the contemporary music in the last section of the book. There are a few good pieces in there (just started working on Rumba por Givi), but it's a sure departure from the traditions of music that I get the most excited to practice. Other students, however, may find it refreshing to work on music that sounds more contemporary and in line with other music they listen to on a regular basis.Be warned there are a couple minor editing errors or typos in fingering suggestions - i.e., suggesting barring 3 strings for an F chord when it's easier (and common practice) to barre the only 2 that are necessary, or not explaining what it means to hinge a barre with the rest of the notation at the start of the book.Disclaimer: I'm not a verified owner as I purchased this at my local classical guitar shop.

Good collection of diverse and fairly easy-to-play music..
I understand from Dr. Yates' web site that there are two or three more volumes in process and will be checking them out..hope they arrive soon...Especially like the variety, and having some contemporary compositions I can play without too much stress; also the jazz influence is an interesting change for classical guitarists.

Splendid intermediate pieces
This is full of good pieces. There are some excellent pieces by living Composers and a well chosen selection of pieces from the classical era. It isn't full of duplications of the same old pieces that feature in other anthologies although a few welcome and necessary old standards appear. It is a pleasure to find an edition with fingerings that are very well thought out but not excessive. My students are really enjoying the repertoire. My favourite is La Luna y el sol by Jaime Zenamon. These two books provide a wealth of material for guitarists in the early years of study and will repay use by more advanced players who can memorise more difficult pieces but lack good reading skills.
