Nice Shoe - Two Caveats
Nice shoe with two small caveats:Labeled size doesn't match reality. I have a pair of similar Pearl Izumi shoes that are 7 years old in a size 43 that fit perfectly (for a 9 1/2 US size foot). Had to order a 45 EU in this shoe to fit.The outside of the shoe (on the inward facing side) has a bit of extra material that makes that section of the shoe a bit "puffy". I.e. it bulges out slightly. It doesn't appear to create a functional issue but does seem like its not manufactured quite right. This was the case for two pair of these shoes.

night and day
If you are on the fence about buying cycling shoes for your spinning class, get off that fence and buy them. You don't need to shell out $300 on pro shoes, these shoes are fantastic. You can ride faster and transition from sitting to standing without worrying about the straps becoming loose or your foot flying off the pedal. You can also pull up on the pedal, as well as push down, which works more muscles. If you tried that with sneakers and foot straps, the straps would snap.I'm a woman and these are guy's shoes, but these are sleek, they're stylish, and they've got an aggressive look to them that the women's shoes lack. They also have free 2 day shipping with my student Amazon account. They're also great because they are mountain bike shoes, and when you get off the bike, the tread is deep enough that you're not walking right on the metal clips (which you must buy separately) like you would be on road shoes. I wouldn't suggest taking a long hike in them because what makes them effective for cycling is that they're rigid, and so they're kind of awkward to walk very far in. But if you wanted to go walking in them, you could. If you're going to buy online, I suggest only buying the shoes and then heading to a bike shop to purchase the clips and have them attached, unless you really know what you're doing. The guy at the bike shop has to do some measuring and he knows exactly the sort of clip you need. I also recommend getting half a size or so larger than you normally would. I'm a size 7.5 in women's so normally I would have gotten a size 39.5 euro, but having tried a few pairs of shoes on at the shop, I found that cycling shoes run a tad small. So when I found the style I wanted online, I went for the size 40.

Run small
You should really get sized, or try a pair on before you order these. I wear a 45, but need a 46. Just like with any shoe really, not everyone uses the same form. Other than that, the shoe seemed to be fairly high quality for it's price point. Can't wait to get my 46s and take them for a ride. Until then, only 3 stars.

Great deal!
I was a little concerned with ordering shoes online about fit, etc...Very happy with this purchase. I ordered the same size as my running shoe (1 -1.5 sizes larger than casual). These do not fit as well as my Specialized from a local bike shop, but they fit very well. If you have been properly fitted for bike shoes, I advise getting the right inserts and I actually swap mine in and out of my road shoes with these mtb shoes.Great quality and great price!

I dig these shoes!
Like I said, I dig these shoes!I grew up using pedal clips, and I was very hesitant to switch to clipless pedals. And yes, they take some getting used to if you are new at them, and some pedal adjustments will be necessary, I have grown to like the whole setup quite a bit!I like these shoes a lot. THey look good, they are inexpensive compared to what you COULD be spending, they fit well, they are comfortable, and they are available in colors that just happen to match both my bikes! These things clean up nicely too relatively speaking.I just finished a rally race this morning, and took a huge fall in a gigantic puddle, or pond rather, and I ended up covered head to toe in red clay mud. Inside my shoes and everything. And while I'll still be cleaning muck out of my ears for the rest of the day, these shoes sprayed right off and look like they did before the dip.Highly recommended!Just an update over a year later. I think I've gotten great use out of these shoes, several races, two Xterra championship triathlons, and countless practice miles. The shoe holds up well. It's not pretty anymore, but it's solid and still as functional as day one.

Nice Shoe, very narrow at toe (update)
Update -I have stretched the shoe out at the toe by pushing a small hard baseball and it has opened the toe up enough to make them comfortable. They are holding up very well.As many people have pointed out, these shoes run small so I ordered a larger size.ProsI like the velcro straps to tighten the shoe and they clip in and out well. I have not had any issues with them coming out of the shoe when I am riding out of the saddle. I have used them on trails and pavement. The bottom cleat that engages with the clipless pedals can be adjusted easily. They appear to be well made. Pearl iZUMi states on the box that they will guarantee a comfortable fir within the first 60 days of use.ConsThe only major con I have is that the shoe is very narrow in the toe area and my toes our crammed left to right even though the shoe is large enough in length. I have been trying to stretch them in the hopes that they would be more comfortable. If I can get them to be more comfortable, I would change my rating to a 5 star.

Beware - These Run SMALL
I really like Pearl Izumi stuff in general based on several years of experience using their clothing and shoes. I have bought 2 previous pairs of Pearl Izumi road cycling shoes (one pair I wore out, the second pair as a replacement for them) which have served me quite well.I ordered these in the same size (47) I've always used that fit me just fine. As soon as I tried them on and felt them jam my toes I knew that they had to go back. The second pair I had ordered for my brother-in-law were the same way. In fact, my size 47 shoes were even a bit too small for him and he's a size 46. Otherwise, they are a decent mid-level MTB shoe.I'll buy Pearl Izumi stuff again for sure, just not their MTB shoes unless I can try them on first.
