Not worth the price
works great as long as you don’t plan on it lasting for long. I’ve only used mine once though had it on my dress form a few times for fittings, and even with that little amount of use the boning is starting to tear through its casing. It did successfully hold up my skirt for the night, but it’s definitely not worth $30.

Could be a bit sturdier
I bought this for my Marie Antoinette gown that I wore to the masquerade ball at Versailles. At first look, it seems to be done fairly well. Clean stitching. As other reviews mention, while it does help to create that wonderful wide shape, the panniers do not support any heavy fabric. The wiring collapses on the sides. It might be OK for a cheap costume but doesn't work well with heavy fabrics. Also, the waist string doesn't tie tightly -I have a 30 inch waist and there was a gap with the panniers kept sliding down. Might work better on larger sizes. I was in a time crunch and couldn't order another hoop skirt so I kept it.

smaller scale than you may want
This is a well-made collapsible bustle that may be smaller than desired for most Western bums. Fwiw, my waist is 30", my hips are 39". As you can see in the images, the product top boning is at 9" (Sorry, my metric brethren, it's all in inches), and my home-drafted bustle pad sits at roughly 14". I will keep the product and make a lightly padded-on-the-sides, ruffled drape, to see if I can fluff it out and reduce bone silhouette through the petticoats. If you are looking for a grand bustle or a wider fit, give this one a hard pass. Perfect for wee bums, though. If my experiment doesn't work, I'll hand it down to my younger, tinier sisters.--Lyn

Bustle up
The bustle cage is perfect for my evening 1880s Victorian dress. I was so happy to find this without having to make one. ForSomeone with limited knowledge and no sewing machine this was just what I needed. I'm 5-2 and the number 3 style meets up with the back of my knees. Whichis perfect and it's not touching the ground. The back of the cage creates a nice silhouette shape for the time period that I'm going for. It adds about 4-5 inches in the back top so petticoats are recommend if you need more volume. The reason I'm giving this 4/5 stars is that the materialcould be better. I also felt that it was a little over priced for the quality. I ended upusing some lace trim on the top to add some more volume. Plus I wanted something with a little more decoration.

Perfect for bustled skirts
Exactly what I was looking for to support my Victorian bustle skirts. Light weight & easy to sit in as it collapses up so you sit. Nicely made.

Great Size for Kids
If you're an XS or a S, this is probably a great bustle for you. I made it work for a costume by adding a bum pad over top of it, but it's not the right size for a normal sized woman. If you're looking for a bustle for a kid's or young adult's costume, this is probably a good option.Heads up: the "boning" is plastic, so it can snap if you sit on it! I didn't find this to be a problem until I stored it wrong, now this is unusable. But as a costume piece, it's not bad for a small woman or child. NOT steel boning!

Collapsed while walking
This product is flimsy. While it gives nice shape when you put it on, it folds up into itself when you move. All day long I was having to try to discreetly adjust this under my outfit as it kept folding flat. I cannot recommend this for anything more that a quick photo shoot.

Great little foundation garment for historical costumers!
I was skeptical about the quality of this but took a chance because the shape was reasonably accurate for a late Victorian bustle. There are several mislabeled versions of various foundation garments spanning 200 years from this vendor, so be sure you're ordering the correct one for your project. I was pleasantly surprised at the good construction and function. Saves me considerable time and effort making it myself. Now I can get straight to making the fun stuff!

Itsby-bitsy-teeny-weeny!!
The photograph of this item is misleading, it is labelled as 'womens Victorian crinoline' and appears to be on a full-sized mannequin but when I unpacked the item it was tiny...child sized. I wear a UK 12/14 and this crinoline tied neatly around one thigh! It did not create an authentic Victorian shape, but a strange 'bump'.Other than tiny size it was as described. Absolutely perfect for a very petite woman (uk size 4/6) or a childs costume but certainly not suitable for anyone else.
