In Her Shoes (Widescreen Edition)

I have always loved this movie but could never find it. Or utube only plays sections of the movie.

This was a great movie with Love, compassion and forgiveness in the family. I really Loved it!

Before I take a crack at commenting on this film, I must tell you why I love these two ladies – Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette. First, they are the real deal as Hollywood goes. By that I mean they don't simply chase roles that will win them awards. They chase roles the way Johnny Depp chases roles – interesting parts that resonate and show their talents. They aren't award hogs, they respect the craft. Second, both of these ladies are infinitely more talented than some in the regular blockbuster group and finally, they are two beauties that aren't obsessed with performing in "pretty" roles (Cameron in Being John Malkovich and Toni in About a Boy as examples of this).As far as this film goes, I found it much deeper and more poignant that you might expect from the marketing and description. The two play sisters who are the product of a dysfunctional family situation that has many layers to it – these layers are peeled away as the film progresses. Cameron's character, Maggie Feller, is an underachiever/loser (to put it mildly). And while she appears to be a selfish, drunken, slut – for lack of a better word – there are things that come to light about her that are profoundly sad. As with her sister, Rose Feller, who is an actual achiever (an ambivalent one, but. . .) with zero sense of self-worth, Maggie is directionless. Until an inciting incident, involving a man friend of Rose's splits them apart.What is at play is the sisters' relationship, a relationship rife with love, hate, resentment and a tragic shared history. The mystery is whether the bond is irrevocably broken or can it be mended.A supporting cast, which includes Ken Howard, Shirley Maclean, Mark Fuerstein and several other key players fill in the missing puzzle pieces that eventually bind the sisters together.This is not a fast-paced movie. But if you can sit back and observe the slow and sometimes painful realities of damaged familial relationships, you will come to a satisfying and believable resolution.Based on the novel by Jennifer Weiner.

Perfect mix that makes a movie work. 1st of all you have the draw of Cameron Diaz and the star power of Shirley MacLaine (has she ever made a bad movie going back 50+ yrs?)Movie starts out with one working sister with a good job and one sister who can't find work, appears to be leading a loser's life trying to grift off her family and others. Eventually we find out she has a reading disability. Turns out the girls have a grandmother they never knew they had. When good sister kicks bad sister out (who has no money and no where to go) she ends up visiting her grandmother in Florida. Ends up working and turning her life around. Good sister ends up with a good guy. yada, yada, yada.Nice casting of the old folks home characters who make the movie more of a delight to watch.No sex, no curse words, no vile content.... just relationship dynamics and how complex they can be. Refreshing in 2021.

Great product, works great!

A real, gritty look at how horribly beautiful people are. Just a swirl of chaos and connections. It was like looking at a mirror that holds all the facets of humanity in a way that wasn't sugar-coated, but still made you feel like everything is just right in all the wrong ways. I loved it. People are messy, but perfect in spite of it. Movies that remind me of this are rare, but I appreciate it when I find them.I just randomly picked this movie because I like Cameron Diaz. And shoes. And here we are, having an epiphany about people. My head and heart are happy.

I was looking for some light movie to kill a couple hours and this movie superseded my expectations. This movie explored in a profound way how the characters dealt with lost, guilt and responsibility. The bond of sisterhood and the hidden influence we all experience from our own family. The acting was great. I took off one star because I think some of the racy scenes from the younger sister and the way she dresses could be toned down. It is not a movie you want to watch with teenager and below. Not really PG13 to me.

This is a quirky film but entertaining. Cameron Diaz performs well as the “slut” of the family who is finally redeemed when she is adopted by the old folk in the retirement home. She finally realises that she has something to offer apart from her body and finds out how good it is to “give”. But it’s Rose, the “successful”sister who steals the film- realising that being successful doesn’t necessarily make you happy - and when she finally gives it all up to walk dogs she discovers a different dimension to her life. Shirley Maclane completes the threesome as the sisters grandmother, with her own story of loss brought full circle when she is found by her estranged granddaughters. Lots of pathos but well done and worth watching.

I found this DVD very amusing with Cameron Diaz in top form. I thought it was funny seeing Cameron play an absolute slacker...could not hold down a job, being evicted for non payment of rent...and down on her luck.Cameron then meets her sister..Toni Collette who is a very successful lawyer, owns a plush apartment with expensive clothes and shoes...and now slacker Cameron moves in with her...so funny.

Wow what a gem. Started slowly but well worth the slow start. A brilliant feel good story about two sisters who live very different lives but learn a lot from each other and about their childhood as the story progresses. Shirley mcClean is at her best here too. Not a dry eye in the house by the end. Fabulous.

Great movie, highly recommend this chick flick and Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette, what not to like 😁
