Using it for my motorcycle trips
I'm using this book for my motorcycle weekend trips. Great suggestions and great roads can be found here. I plan to ride all routes just for fun. Most of the time I use the book as a guide but mark in my GPS the routes before leaving home. I also use the internet to do some research about restaurants and add them to my route. This way I can ride to a certain place and find good meals before riding back.Sometimes I join two or more routes together to create a longer trip. Easy using the method I described above. After all that, all I have to do is follow the directions from my GPS. It has worked every single time. The result is a great ride that also allows me to get to know NC better.Last, but not least, the images in this book are really good. I'm a photographer and Mr Adams has a good eye for color and composition. This is not amateur photography inserted in a book with sloppiness. No sir. Some of the pictures here are quite incredible and very well edited.I bought other NC guides. This is the one I decided to follow first.

Excellent guide for a new NC resident
This book is a wonderful aid to 1)understanding the overall geography of the state and 2) to developing a list of most interesting places. It offers beautiful photographs and just enough detailed context. This one is a keeper and worth every penny.

Fascinating information about my new state
I am looking forward to taking some trips around the state once Covid is over. There are so many interesting things to do and see in North Carolina from waterfalls and mountains to beaches and bird watching. The author pointed out interesting snippets of historical events and places that are still around to look at as well as some interesting back roads travels to amazing sites. I have many dog eared pages of locations I would like to travel to and photograph. Something to look forward to seeing!4 star only because I wish there were more pictures and bigger maps. But as the author pointed out, if there were pictures of everything the book would be gigantic.

Great gift
Bought as a retirement gift for a peer. Nice book and the recipient who is a motorcycle rider who was planning to relocate to North Carolina loved it!

NC road trip with my 87 year old mother
Cannot say enough about this great book. It breaks the state down in regions and highlights the best of each. There are maps for each section that are easy to follow. I started in the mountains on the west side of the state and ended at the Outer Banks on the eastern side. Avoided interstates until our return home. This is a fantastic book if you really want to get out and see North Carolina!

Very Nice Book
We live in North Carolina and love to find "hidden," out-of-the-way places, so this book sounded like something we would enjoy. With beautiful pictures and informative descriptions of places we've never visited (and some we have), we're enjoying just reading the book. We found the directions easy to follow the first time we used it and look forward to many more weekend getaways and day trips to the places featured in Backroads.

Great source of details!
This book is everything I thought it would be. The pages are filled with plenty of text and pictures. There are even maps to show the routes of each destination. I have yet to plan the next family adventure. This book will be our guide. Another great fact it presents destinations within all parts of North Carolina. Really enjoyed this book would be a great gift for an avid traveler.

Disappointed Too Wordy for Me.
It is okay, I was wanting more photos and less writing. You would have to sit and read the whole book to get what I wanted from it. I was looking for a place to go with a short review of what was there. This was way to wordy for me. Did get some ideas of places I might visit so wasn't a total waste of money. So if your looking to read more about North Carolina, you would enjoy this book.
