Bulbrite134019 40W Nostalgic Edison Squirrel Cage-style Bulb

I have this bulb in a coach style lamp on my front porch and it's perfect. It ended an ongoing disagreement between me and my dad because he kept switching the bulb in that lamp with a flickering bulb because it looked cooler. I couldn't argue with that, but I kept switching it back to a regular bulb because those flickering ones may look cool but they don't provide diddly squat in the way of actual light and I was getting tired of having to pull out my cell phone to use as a flashlight so I could see to unlock the damn door. Anyhoo, I was buying lights for Halloween and saw this and decided to give it a try. It's the best of both worlds; attractive & functional. This bulb is on for at least a few hours every night for about 9 months now and it still hasn't burnt out.UPDATE 1/26/2017: I'm definitely impressed with how long this lightbulb lasts. I've been using it in the light on my front porch for a couple of years - all night, every night - and it's still working perfectly. Two thumbs up for longevity

The other reviews are completely accurate. This is a beautifully crafted bulb. Is it expensive? Yes. Does it produce less lumens than other 40W bulbs? Yes. Do I care? No.The packaging is among the best I've seen for a bulb. The bulb itself is a work of art compared to anything else I have used, even when turned off. The fitment is superb and by this I mean when screwed into the socket, the crescendo of the funnel shape leaves almost a seamless teardrop shape. The filaments on the interior of the bulb are beautifully constructed and I love how the distal tip of the bulb comes to a tip, almost like a newly molded candle.This bulb deserves a dimmer and a fixture that allows it to show off. The light emitted is almost intoxicating. It looks incredibly authentic and old fashioned. The light isn't quite as bright as other 40w bulbs, but it is fine to help keep a room or space lit enough to read a book. As others mentioned, the pictures do not do it justice. Just know that if you have seen these in person (mostly in restaurants or high-end decor retailers), this one is just as good or better. You will not be disappointed.

This bulb looked amazing in a 1920's lamp I got from a great-aunt years ago. It turned it from a somewhat-drab lamp into something beautiful. I loved the color of the light, and it wasn't too bright to use in a clear shade. Unfortunately, something was wrong with the bulb, and it kept flickering out unless I spent several minutes carefully, carefully tweaking the position until the bulb came back on. I thought something was wrong with the lamp, but then I tried it in a few other fixtures and it wouldn't light at all. I went to a local home-supplies store and bought a similar model, which works fine. I almost hate to give it a low rating, because when it worked, it was truly stunning. I just recommend you keep your packaging materials until you're sure it's a good-quality bulb. Given the other strongly positive reviews for this item, I'm sure I just got a flawed item, and that just happens sometimes. So, I'll give it four stars.

I have been looking for a less pricey version of teardrop bulbs that some upscale home improvement stores sell. Yes these are a nice teardrop shapes and they emit a soft light and are nor blinding, perfect for fixtures where the bulbs are exposed. However, the amber light produced by these bulbs is more appropriate for either a retro look or a trendy industrial look. I am aiming for a cozy casual look and have golden yellow and white walls; the amber light is jarring in my space. I wish Bulbrite would offer these bulbs in clear glass that does not emit an amber glow.Update: After about a month of use, I noticed today that of the two bulbs I got, one has a distinctly amber glass and the other has an almost clear glass with just a hint of amber. While buying, I would have chosen clear/almost clear glass if I were given an option, but I didn't notice any such option. Now I do want to buy these bulbs in clear glass, but how I do I make a selection? Or is the color of the glass random, like in hand-crafted objects ?

Great vanity lightbulbs for our use.If this is the only light in your bathroom this is NOT the choice for you. It's not super light exactly. If you like us have a white very bright light then these are the perfect mirror lights. In the evening and at night the ceiling light is too bright and we only use the lights on the side of the mirror and it makes it light enough and its soft and beautiful. they give a more yellow warm light but I think it's more like a 30w output.Husband was totally against it because he was thinking bath light = bright lights, but now when they are in he likes it even more than me I think!For the right setting they are beautiful!

These bulbs work perfectly in my vintage chandelier (1901 home). At first, they seemed expensive but, after 9 years I've just had to replace the first of 5 bulbs, so they ended up being a great value too.

I was looking for lighting for my bedroom. I had an old rod lamp and wanted to complete the look with just the right bulb. This 40-watt fit the bill perfectly. It gives off a very usable soft white-orange light. It lights my room enough so that I can read @ night. This bulb is a great addition to complete the retro look. The color of the light it gives off is very relaxing. In an age of CFL lights, this bulb is not at all harsh or intrusive. You will enjoy the light from this "classic" bulb.

These look great and provided nice light on our sconces outside my front door. I've had these before and they lasted about 2 years for about 8hrs a day, so I've been happy with their lifespan. They're a little dimmer than I would like, so I think I'll try to find a similar bulb with a higher wattage.

Looks great in the period lamp I installed it in. Gives off a nice old yellow light. This was a good buy.

So good. Love it. Love the antique feel, warms up the room like a candle without being too bright like regular bulb. Will definitely order more.
