Cheaply Made--All Around Awful
I rarely return items I buy from Amazon, but this one I returned the same day I bought it. First of all, despite the fact the press is supposedly "heavy duty cast aluminum", the press weighs just a bit over one pound. It is not, in any way, "heavy duty." This leads to a problem when actually trying to press dough. First of all, there is no weight with which to press and it is shoddily. I know tortilla presses need some give, but this one felt like it was going to fall apart when I first picked it up. Secondly, because the aluminum is so thin, the handle bends when trying to press your tortilla, resulting in one half of the tortilla being thin and the other very thick. No matter how much I tried maneuvering the dough or the handle, there was no way to create a uniform tortilla, which defeats the purpose of a tortilla press. My final qualm with this press is the fact that it does not appear to be dishwasher safe. Before returning the press, I wanted to clean it (obviously). I placed it in my dishwasher, and when I pulled it out, my fingers were coated with a silvery powder, implying the press didn't hold up well to the dishwasher, despite the fact it was advertised as dishwasher safe. For the same 20 dollars that this press cost, we found an 8 inch cast iron press at Sur La Table. Save your money on this product and invest in something of much greater quality.

It's a nice, solid press and I'm anxious to not have to use a rolling pin. I have to play around with recipes though I think since the tortillas ended up thicker than I wanted. It almost seemed like they were sort of shrinking back up as they cooked. Probably not the fault of the press though :)

I am disappointed in the quality of the press and do not consider it to be "heavy duty." In my opinion, it is poorly made.

Lightweight - Just okay
This is a lightweight press....its okay but the heavier stainless steel models are much better. It works well enough but feels flimsy like the handle may eventually fall off.

The handle does not allow the other part of the press to be pressed down easily. Instead it scraps against the handle and you ..
I purchased this particular tortilla press for its size and how it is made. When pressing tortillas it doesn't allow you to press all the way down. This makes the tortilla uneven (Thin in some spots and think in the middl).. The handle does not allow the other part of the press to be pressed down easily. Instead it scraps against the handle and you end up with aluminum sprinkles all over providing an unwanted texture to your uneven too think in the middle tortilla.
