Highly recommend for young dancers. - As a dancer of many years and a teacher of dance, this is just one of my favorite books for my young students. Really lovely pictures, stories, and a holistic approach to the art, history, and basics of ballet. So well put-together. An instant classic. Highly recommend for any young dancer in your life. Perfect gift, too!

Kindle edition omits all illustrations
The Kindle edition does not include any illustrations or charts. Some of these omitted pictures are not missed but some are important to see positions and movements and they are referred to in the text. This good book is not so good on the Kindle.

A great, informative book about ballet
I have recently begun adult beginner ballet classes, and I was looking for a solid introduction to both the history and the techniques. The Ballet Companion is that and more, it's very informative, nicely illustrated and really useful.
