Works Like A Charm!
I purchased this to scare the squirrels out of my large tree and it works like a charm. It isn't powerful enough to seriously injure them, put it's painful enough to make them run for the fence as soon as I open the door. The squirrels learn quickly that climbing to the top of the tree is pointless. The gun is very accurate and very easy to use. I like this much better than ones which require a CO2 cartridge. It's also great for target shooting. Highly recommend.

Sturdy, well built
I've had a Daisy for 30 years and it was worn out. This new one is easier to cock and shoot, and is built much better. Sights work very well for target practice.

Fun Starter For Gun Safety Or Shooting Practice
If you are looking for a reliable and fun bb gun for your child to use (or to use yourself) look no further than the Daisy Red Ryder. Lightweight, easy to maintain, easy to load, and easy to learn. Very accurate and reliable, sturdy, great range, and it's an overall great value for money! It has a safety feature too, and has an adjustable sight. A few issues: the spring can be heavy for some, so you may have to chamber shots for them. Also, when chambering a shot, you need to make sure that you hold it barrel up or else you might not catch a bb in the chamber. If you load it up completely with bbs, it might become heavier to hold for younger shooters. Most of these issues are just dealing with age or strength, which is why I suggest this for 13 and up, although you can start them young (BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL, always use eye protection and supervise your kids!!) And for any older teens or adults that want a fun bb gun, this is a good starter too! The springs are easy to upgrade, whether you get a block or a stronger spring in general (May void warranty's and cause injury, so please take this information at your own discretion) but the base spring power is plentiful for shooting some cans! I definitely suggest this for anyone looking to teach their kids gun safety and teaching them how to shoot, or just to have it for fun!

Can't believe the accuracy
This was a Christmas gift for my 8 year old son and we took it out yesterday and shot it a lot. These things have come a long way since I was a kid. My old BB gun when I was a kid many years ago, was very inaccurate and the sights were way off, but this one is almost like shooting a real rifle. At about 11 yards it was spot on. We were nailing aluminum cans, and not only hitting them, but hitting them where we wanted too. The gun is just the right size for my son, but still big enough to be fun for me. It has a real wooden stock with Red Ryder carved fancily into it, and it holds about 650 BB's. That means I don't have to refill it often for my son. The only small problem we had was the little ring and leather strap on the side of the receiver. My son is left handed so we had to remove the strap as it was in the way of the trigger. Our son loves this little BB gun and to be frank, so do I. I highly recommend it for both kids and adults alike. What a great way to spend quality time with my son, and teach him how to shoot and be safe at the same time.

A Trip Back to My Childhood
I had often and briefly considered looking to buying a modern version of this BB gun that I had when I was 9-10 years old in 1953 but assumed that what was wood would now be plastic, that it would not even be near the same, and that the price would be much more than I would be willing to pay. When I saw the listing on Amazon and saw the specifications and price, I couldn't have been any more wrong. This gun is (almost) exactly like I remember the one I had 70 years ago. Real wood, quality construction (but made in China, as expected), and the beautiful retro-style box is almost worth the price by itself. The only thing I think I remember different is that the new version has a covered BB loading port, where the old one had a simple uncovered hole for loading BBs and you had to watch out not to lower the barrel to avoid the BBs rolling out, or cover the hole with your finger. Furthermore, I'm not sure the old version had a rear sight that was adjustable (might be wrong).Boy, does this bring back memories, which I suppose is the reason I bought it. I haven't fired it yet, and might not unless to just do a few test shots. However, if any of my grandchildren show an interest, they might become the lucky new owner.Did I mention the price? Unbelievable for such an iconic historical reproduction.

Accurate and reliable
Quality product , works great. Bought two for two eight year olds - working the lever will take a little practice for younger hands but they will figure it out after a few times.
