Folding Scissors

I had a small pair of scissors that traveled almost all over the world with me this year, in my carry on.. It went through all the inspections without being a problem, then on my last trip of the year, it was taken from me by the people in Argentina, when I was leaving the country.. I was so pissed I could scream. For my photography work, I use the scissors a lot, but in Argentina, they went in the trash.. Nothing I could say or do would stop the lady who took from to have compassion for me and my little sissors..How dangerous could they be!! I think they were childrens kraft scissors.. If they were safe for kids, you would think they were safe to fly with me... I watched that lady dump my awesome small scissors in the danger box... I lost my love for Argentina right there. What a waste. If you go to Argentina, you can expect problems of some kind.. Also, they charge Americans 160 dollars just to get into the country!! Then they take your baby scissors when you leave.. But, life has to go on even if some people are screwed up... So, as soon as I got home, I ran to Amazon and started searching for replacement scissors.. This is where I found this pair of scissors.. From the reviews, it seemed lots of people who bought them were happy with them, and for the price, why not give them a try.. So, I ordered a pair... But, the challenge was not over.. The shipper shipped the item fast!!! All went well until my local post office got the shipment, and that is where things fell apart.. The tracking number showed the item arrived in my part of town, fast, then nothing!! The package stopped moving!! After my second call, they finally found the package and got it moving again!!! It would seem a new employee was causing a lot of problems in the local area... That is not a product issue, but it is an experience issue... As for the product itself, it seems as if it will meet my needs.. It opens easy, but has a bit of a challenge closing.. Best I could tell, there was a manufactoring bur on the handle which is stopping the folding process from being easy.. To close, I have to put sideways pressure on one of the blades. This could cause me to cut my finger if not careful.. I think that with a little file, I can smooth the bur, which should then let the folding process take place without the extra help... Next is the cutting issue.. Do they cut.. The answer is yes.. To test, I cut to bits the cardboard that the scissors were attactched when they arrived.. It cut the cardboard very well.. If it can do that, it must be pretty good.... Time will tell.. The question is, is it worth the 5 dollars I paid for them, and the answer is, I think so!!!! Now to see if they will pass the Airport Test!!! I suppose that as long as I stay out of Argentina, I will be OK.... Should you try a pair?? I think so... My primary use for the scissors is cutting sewing/upholstery thread and duck tape..

February 10th UPDATE.Two purchased and two returned. Just too hard to get back into the carrying position. With some hand strength and just the right twisting force it can be done, but that is too much trouble for what I was thinking was a well made item.FIRST REVIEW.Good size and function, but once unfolded I could not get back into the folded/storage position without a lot of hand strength and risk of cutting myself. I believe I got a defective pair.Have sent this pair back and have reordered same.

Not the highest quality, but a good thing to carry in your pack or briefcase or purse or glove compartment. Jeez, I never seem to need a knife.

My wife ordered this to carry with her. Does not fold up. Already cut my finger trying to help her close it. Do not buy waste of money. Negative one star would be more accurate.

I have a few pairs of these wonderful scissors so I always have them on hand. I love how they compact so neatly and safely. They are quite sharp. I originally found them with fishing tackle supplies but wanted them for a travel craft bag. They arrived right on time and were well packaged.

I always have a pair in my purse. Cannot tell you how many times I have used them, and have co-workers that borrow them. A very handy gadget to have

Terrible don't waste your money. Doesn't work and very greasy and left oil all over my hands yet still did not work. Just junk.

Use scissors to work at school to help some students cut paper. I keep them in my pocket so I do not have to go to desk to get scissors.
