Waste of money DONT BUY
I am a violinist who is going to major in music performance next fall. This shoulder rest came extremely light blue, very small, was already crumbling and has holes in it in the bag (it looked like it was shedding all inside the bag). This is not at all like the picture and it is not large (very small LONG NECKERS aka me, don't buy). Very poor quality sadly.

Cheap, easy, and comfortable
Ok, I teach violin to elementary school students, and I was never a string major, so I'm not exactly Paganini. As a guy who plays violin almost as well as the third row violinists in an average high school, I find these to be very comfortable. I like them better than the more solid ones, because they always fit. They don't slip off the violin, and you're not constantly adjusting them. They also don't break in your violin case, and the foam provides enough friction that it stays easily on your shoulder. I have seen folks using rubber bands to keep these attached to a violin. I don't bother with that; I put the pad on my shoulder-it stays well, and then put the violin on top of it. For me, they are a great value. Just some additional information to think about; I ordered a mess of these for my violin students with mixed results. In all fairness, when you give very small 4th graders full sized violins, there's no product that's going to make them easy to hold. (The school owns full sized instruments.) Some of the students really love them; some not so much.

Perfect
Adds support and doesn't seem to lose its form when squished. I think it will hold up well Would purchase again

Not good for someone who needs a shoulder rest with a long leg
I bought this for my daughter. The sponge is pretty soft and collapses easily. It doesn't give much support anyway. We went and bought Bonmusica shoulder rest, which is more expensive but works so well.

Great economy shoulder rest for kids.
It isn't fancy, but it works. I'll probably buy a nicer one if she sticks with playing for more than a few months.

A Dollar Store Sponge for Five Bucks plus Shipping
It is a dollar store sponge cut into a shape. Poor quality, breaks down quickly and is of little or no value as a rest. I complained to the company and they said "sorry you don;t like it." There truly is a sucker born every minute.
