strong well made and beautiful
chrome finish is fantastic and the muffler is thick and heavy, unlike many other thin like walled aftermarket mufflers. the baffle is removable from the front..thats so nice. no need to pull the muffler off to rewrap the baffle or add more silencing material...or even to remove it entirely and run it straight...for awhile...only thing i must return it. am so sad about that. the rear of it is 4.13" [105.1mm] around at the rear where the baffle is located. however it is NOT 4 inches [as stated in the description at many places] instead it is 1.70" or 43.2mm at the front where it connects to a stock down pipe or collector. my stock 1979 gs850g down pipe is the SAME od as this pipe...so i would need a coupler welded to the muffler or the down pipe or small dia. collector...then i could use the very strong NICE clamp to connect it. problem is i have 4 down pipe attached to and exiting a huge 4.50" diameter collector. so noway this will work for me. i thought it [as described] was 4" front and rear, but its NOT. if 4", like they showed in many descriptions, i would of been able to make it work. i hate to return it...its so well made! got no choice tho. if you have a smaller collector or down pipe you'll be ok with this muffler. it will work great...there are two extra reducres 1.46 in [37.1mm] and one 1.49in [38mm]...its a shame i have to return it...it should say 1 1/2 in intake to 1.46in ...instead of saying its 4 inch entrance opening...i finally decided to keep this one and just cut a piece of the muffler from hedder end down to the 2 1/2" mark...used a exhaust insert and connected this muffler to the hedder collector. i was able to adjust the length to stock length because the hedder collector was 21/2" its whole length. i just welded the two together [to match stock length] with 1/16 welding rod and I am happy. there now is NO popping noise and i CAN control the loudness too. i can adjust the sound by removing the baffle and packing it or even welding part of it shut with a metal tube sleeve. super great muffler and very adaptable

Great value - fit, finish and style are superb!
As mentioned by another buyer, I installed these pipes on my 2009 Vulcan 500. Installation took less than a half hour - everything just goes where it should. For the price, fit and finish are excellent. My friends agree that they look much nicer than the stock pipes. Having said that, I should mention that the fiberglass packing material that surrounds the baffle is minimal. After removing the end baffle and examining the amount of fiberglass I immediately ordered Helix heavy duty muffler packing on Amazon for under $20. There's enough material for both pipes if you peal in half. I wrapped the packing material in stainless steel wire (because I had it) and that helped since the opening at the end of the pipe is rather tight. The result was a smoother sound with slightly lower pitch. The pipes are much louder than stock - a little too loud for my tastes. So I've also order a pair of reverse cone mufflers from Emgo which contain internal baffles, and will see how they compare. At only $55 a piece, Emgo offers outstanding value in aftermarket pipes. Highly recommended!

Thin mount material
I've been through a few of these now, they all have the same issue, the metal is too thin at the mount, putting even a modest amount of tension on the mount bolt causes the metal to deform and ultimately tear out. They also make a terrible seal where they slip over the header. They look good and sound good other than the sound of the leak at the header.

does not fit as it states
be prepared to do a lot of metal and pipe work if you have 1 3/4 inch pipes. It does not fit although in the add it says it does.sounds about the same as when there was no muffler...

Fiber glass came apart on the first ride. But ...
Fiber glass came apart on the first ride. But from other reviews this was expected. I have not had a chance to repack it. Putting additional packing in is a bit messy and troublesome. All other components seem to be of decent quality. After the packing deteriorated the pipes were LOUD and I put the stock mufflers on. On first startup up they were tolerable. These pipes were installed on a Vulcan 500. Fit was ok. The brackets need to be bent to keep the pipes away from the axial nuts.

Excellent Sound & Easy Install
The media could not be loaded. These were for a stock 1975 Yamaha XS650. I browsed sound clips on YouTube and liked the "Rumble", long length and appearance. Only mod during installation was a slight enlargement at the hanger to fit over a larger stud. Had these fully mounted in about 30 minutes. These are NOT quiet! but I wasn't wanting quiet. Very nice deep rumble at idle then a very old school Growl with throttle, they actually emit a Grunt between gears. I saw in another review someone stated the baffle wrapping was thin and blows out and they're probably right, they did seem to get a little louder the more I rode, but again, I like Loud! Baffles are easily removable and can be rewrapped with better glass and may do that if/when I might want to tone them down.I'm an old Hot Rodder and would compare these to making a straight 6 sound like a V8.Overall these mufflers exceeded my expectations in every way!Note* When shopping for these make sure you check the Manufacturer's Part #80-84050 since some sellers post the wrong picture. Also: the video I posted does not do the sound justice.
