Q: Has anybody tried this on the pivot point of a pocket knife?

Yes, I use this for my pocket knives and my rifles. I think it's the absolute best lubricant. I wouldn't hesitate to use this oil on any gun or knife

The needle its self is 3/4 inch and from the top of the cap to the top of the needle is 1 1/4 inch

Yes, Lucas does make a solvent. If you search amazon for “Lucas Gun Oil” you will see several buying options. One package option includes a type of CLP (cleaner, lubricant, protectatant) and you can also buy the Lucas CLP separately. I believe there are a couple different cleaners available and at least 3 different grades of their gun oil available as well. Hope that helps. Disregard the other answer to this question, they clearly don’t understand the question and their answer is not terribly helpful.

Q: Can you replace the needle with a longer one? If so what do I look for?

You can get tubing at a craft store or hardware store and cut to length.
