Invented by a 12 year old girl for her 6th grade science fair project because she was tired of her daily chore of having to keep her dog, Sadie's, paws clean. The Paw Wash was born and patented. It received many awards and is first of its kind. It is used to clean and keep dog paws healthy effortlessly. Just "lift" off the centerpiece of the lid, leaving the yellow ring on, and add a drop of pet shampoo. Then add water to the fill line. Place dog paw inside Paw Wash and pump it up and down several times to create the cleaning suction. As you remove the dog paw the squeegee top helps remove water. The Paw Wash Mitt is then used for the final dry, sold separately.

Works great once you get the hang of it
This thing helps a lot. It does take a while to figure out how to make it work for you, but once you do, the top will stay on because you'll realize the plastic screw cap is supposed to stay on while you use it, the water will stay in because you'll learn to fill it to the line and you'll master the motion to move the paw through the rubber hole, and the paws will get cleaner because it definitely works. If I can tell by looking out the window that I'll need it after a walk, I prefill it with a few drops of dog shampoo and some warm water and put it with a towel by the front door so I can take care of the dog as soon as we get back. That way I can let her loose in the house and not have to worry about rugs and furniture.I dump the used water in the toilet and it's often dark and has grit in it. I suggest not dumping it in a kitchen sink, especially if it has a garbage disposer. After use, you need to wash it out and let it dry with the rubber part set aside or else it will get funky inside. Also, it doesn't remove all the water from the fur so you'll need to learn to juggle the paw washer and a towel. I wash and dry one leg at a time. It takes about a minute to get all 4.It works great in winter for cleanup after walking on salted, brown snow on the side of the road and on rainy days where she might get a little muddy. In fall and spring when there's lots of plant debris and mud getting trapped in her long fur, I prefer to put her in the tub and wash her legs with a sprayer. This thing isn't a replacement for bathing a dog's feet in all situations, but it's a good shortcut for many situations.

It wasn't the miracle I'd hoped for
In theory this would be awesome. For the most part, the mud comes off my dogs paws, but not all, and then I have four dogs with wet slightly muddy feet wandering around. I have four small dogs, two Cairns, one Schnauzer, and a super mutt. The schnauzers feet fit the best and come clean the most. There is no suction to the dirt, it simply rinses their feet. I have had no trouble with the lid or any other part. Their feet aren't as clean as I had hoped. With four dogs, I am also changing the water every four paws. This does however, work better than making my dogs stop in a foot bath first.

Cleans Muddy Feet Well
This paw wash is a god send when our dog gets his white furry feet all caked in dirt and mud. However, it does take a cooperative dog who will let you take his paw and plunge it in and out of the devise. Ours resigns himself to the process. I plunge one paw in and out then squeeze his foot gently upon removing it to get off the excess water. When finished with all 4 paws, I then dry his feet with a towel. It is a hassle but I would rather do this than have a filthy carpet! After each use, the paw plunger needs to be rinsed out and refilled with clean water. Unscrew the gold top ring, remove the black rubber cap and then rinse out the dirty water. Refill with fresh water (I add one drop of liquid dish soap to the water), rinse off the black rubber, put it over the opening, then screw back the top gold band over it. Then snap in the locking cover so it doesn't spill.Luckily, we don't have to use it unless it is very wet outside causing his feet to get extra dirty. This devise takes some patience and a strong desire to keep the dirt off your carpet. But it works much better than wet wipes or just a bowl of water.

Saves time and mess!
We have a long-haired spaniel whose paws get extremely muddy on our daily walks. We fill it with warm water with a couple of drops of dog shampoo before our walks, and leave it by the door. We actually bought two Paw Washers and use one for rinsing. If you remember to leave the yellow ring cap on, the black rubber part won't fall off. We swish the dog's paw in the washer, then the rinse water, and towel dry. So much easier than carrying the dog to the sink, or bringing out bowls of water. When I called the Paw Wash company to order a replacement part that we had misplaced, the woman who answered the phone couldn't have been more gracious.Although my husband first scoffed when I ordered the Paw Wash, it works so well, he is now a convert!

Messier than before
Simply didn't work for my dogs. I filled it up with water and soap and let my dogs loose outside to play. We have a really crappy lawn that is mostly dirt and on that day it had been raining. I have a corgi and a whippet and ordered a size small for their little paws. The dogs didn't particularly care for it, but they didn't struggle too much and I was able to dunk each paw several times. The squeegee didn't do a great job of removing the water. They ran inside and I could see that not only was there still muddy paw prints, but now my dogs feet were wet too! My whippet automatically jumped on the couch and got it all wet. Yes, I suppose I could have used a microfiber towel to dry them off before they went inside, but if it's meant to be a two step process they should offer a towel with the product initially without making me have to buy separately.UPDATE: The inventor contacted me via my review and offered assistance to better enjoy this product, therefore I am giving it an additional star for good customer service.

doesn't work with my short 6lb dog
Works well on my long legged 46lb dog but the 6lb dog needs to be put on a box for it to work. Be careful to tuck in your dogs flappy due claws before trying to get the water moving. I would recommend having a good absorbent towel handy. My dogs feet were never super clean after but it gets the cakey mud off. If their feet were really cold I would warm them a little in my hands and use room temperature water. This product gets a three star because I wanted it to work with the small dog better than it does. It is durable and well made.

Came on time
I chose this rating because it would be EXTREMELY helpful if there were some suggestions as to what to put in the container.I got this for my Mother who's little dog walks on grass that is usually treated with different chemicals or fertilizers from the city and is allergic to it. I was hoping this might make it easier for her to clean his paws more thoroughly. It's perfect for his size, he is about 17lbs, and the squeegee end helps to get the most of the wet off.I liked the idea so much I bought a large for my Son's Lab.

Genius invention. Make sure you get an absorbert mitt to dry the wet paw when pulled out. My shih tzu has white fur on each paw.
