Has the rubber wear problem first noted in 2018 been resolved, i.e. is there a mark 2, or is one planned?

No, after about a year the black rubberized sides start to disintegrate and become sticky. Not much you can do about it. It's obviously a money spinner for Microsoft as the mouse would otherwise last 10 years or more.

Anyone using this mouse for FPS games??

Great mouse. But the silicone on the sides of the mouse didn’t last a month and flakes off.

Does the scroll wheel click when scrolled or is the movement fluid?

There is a slight clicking and the wheel stops quickly if you try to spin it with a "flick". It has a notched feel to the action. So using the well for window scrolling results in "steps" of the scroll bar similar to if you were using the arrow keys. I like this behaviour personally, but it depends on personal preference.

Is there a driver that allows me to customize the side button (turn it off!)? This uses the basic "Microsoft compliant device" driver which does not.
