Perfect OEM Fit, if you know what you are doing.
Don't even bother with these over blown negative reviews on this carb bowl and gasket. It is a 100% OEM replacement part for many horizontal shaft/vertical B&S engines. This bowl fits exact on the 9hp pictured which is the motor I used for my homemade log-splitter and this carb bowl, gasket/nut will also fit on an 8hp Briggs engine used on the Troy-Bilt Chipper-Vac. Similar engines but different models. Anyone that says the bolt is too small or the gasket doesn't fit, ordered the wrong part for their model engine. No one ever lists the engine model/serial, just how furious they are the part doesn't fit. Take your engine model and serial number. Look up the parts listing for that model and serial number, order the correct part. Or take it to a repair shop and have someone do it for you.

Makes it look new again!
Bought an old Bachtold Brothers field mower with a Briggs and Stratton 5 HP that had been sitting for years. Took off the carb and opened it up and it was a nightmare. You can see the old bowl, and that was even after soaking it in carb cleaner, soaking it in Coka-Cola, and taking a wire brush to it. If you see this kind of build up, just get this replacement, will save you a lot of time and frustration. Fits perfectly. Nice and shiney now ;-). Makes it new again. Don't think I'm going to wait for the carb overhaul kit that's coming tomorrow. Going to fire that bad boy up today!

O-ring gasket is very finicky.
Fit Mom's Troy-Bilt tractor just fine... However, as others have mentioned, the o-ring gasket is very finicky. I found if I held the o-ring in place on the carb, and then snuck the bowl under my fingers holding the gasket in place, it worked. I plan to buy a bunch of o-rings for future use, 281165S.

Great replacement and a must for a smooth running engine.
Fit perfectly, tractor ran all season with no roughness due to rust in carb. Going to remove in 2 weeks after a season and hope there is no rust. If so going to get another one for next season. Ethanol pulls in water into the gas and rusts out the bowls. Someone should make one out of ABS.

I was challenged but the part worked
The part eventually worked for me, but I had a difficult time getting the seal to stay in place when tightening. If the seal isn't securely in the proper position, then fuel leaks creating a fire risk. As mentioned, go it aligned and it works great!

Very good replacement product
Have a 15 year old Generator that had a broken gasket and was having a hard time getting the right one. Ordered this and solved the problem. A little touchy getting the gasket to stay in place but eventually got it. The set was the same as the original which made it a lot easier to replace. Price was very reasonable and the shipping was great.

Good investment.
This worked out pretty good for me. I had to adjust it just a bit,but it worked perfectly. I was able to start my lawn mower on with no problem.

If I could leave Negative STAR rating for this product, I would
I am THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED. The O-ring bowl gasket is too small and the bowl is ever so slightly TOO BIG ti fit in the groove and seal onto the O-ring (which I could see after I stretched and finagled the o-ring into place to stay) and tried to mount the bowl). Details: I had tediously taken apart the entire intake off my engine to find out why the carb wasn't getting gas. It turned out to be obstruction in the bowl, which I cleared and I noticed leaky old and missing gaskets on the bowl. So I reinstalled the entire assembly yesterday , leaving off the bowl because I THOUGHT could screw the bowel with the new gaskets on the bottom, last today and be done with it. . .But then I get this crap with a too small o-ring which can not be even put in place on the top of the bowl, let alone kept there Because IT IS TOO SMALL. If it wasn't too small, if it was the right size could have easily laid it on the lip of the bowl, which is belled out to accept it, and installed the bowl with the carb still mounted on the engine. My procedure to make this garbage product work: I took the carb back off as noted and used super glue to slowly tack the o-ring into place around the bowl base because there isn't enough lip around the base to stretch and slip it into. The reason I used super glue is because it sets and holds fast and the small gasket without anything to hold it, slips out of the groove as fast as i try to put it in. After that I discovered that the hair-too-big lip bowl the sent rests on the flange OUTSIDE the o-ring instead of on the in place o-ring. i could have filed it down to fit, but instead I just used the old bowl THAT FIT'S CORRECTLY and am returning this non-fitting POSMINUS the gaskets for a full refund. . old review: Instead, BECAUSE THE O-RING IS TOO SMALL, i have to AGAIN remove the ENTIRE ASSEMBLY because i can't don't have room to and cannot even see to STRETCH the too-small o-ring over the bottom of the carb without removing it. and I want to mention that I am almost 62 years old and ALL of the o-rings I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH fit right without stretching because if they had to be stretched THEY WERE WRONG AND DID NOT WORK. . This makes me very angry. I do my best, always, earn my money only to have to pay it right back out for fly-by-night garbage like this made by people who apparently lack the benefit of a proper upbringing and thus don't even know how or care to put out a decent, quality product and keep up their end of the social bargain like I do The o-ring bowl gasket is too small and the 100% of the time and am doing RIGHT NOW by alerting everybody to beware of this shoddy product.
