Large Sets Are Best
These are excellent, unique wc-type brush pens, but they work best with the use of a water-brush as well, to blend in stroke-lines and graduate the color. (They don't work the same as a regular brush and watercolors creating pools that blend without lines. You have to add the liquid to the paper before the color dries..) Zig Kuretake are high-quality across the board. Always. With everything they make. I have and use many of their pen varieties...I am very happy with the 60-color set, though be forewarned that it includes 48 newer colors plus the colors from the original 12-color set , so if that is what you started with first, like me, you will have at least 12 color repeats...I don't mind, as they were ready to replace anyway after nearly 5 yrs., but If you are serious about collecting these pens, the best tip I can give is to start with the 90-color set, if it's in the budget, then add on to those colors with the unique 30-color sets they bring out new each year. This way there are no repeats. They are also sold individually at many art stores, so I will supplement the colors I am missing between the 60 and 90 sets and build on from there. My pens have all lasted me at least 4 yrs. and still going strong... I have yet to have one dry out on me..At first I didn't think lighter and darker shades of the same tones were necessary, but later learned that using various shades together and blending the edges was the way to really make these pens and your creations pop. I now want them all! It's also very helpful to turn the pens upside down in their clear case so that the colored ends are easily visible instead of their white caps, and definitely keep a log or swab-book with both the number and color-name for no-confusion ordering and reference...Shipping from Japan they arrived in perfect condition and 1 week early, in case you're wondering, and all of them fresh and juicy!!! Zero damage. I have already moved on to my next 30 new-color set!

A different kind of coloring!
I bought the Kuretake Clean color Real Brush because like most people the prospect of buying Copics seemed unappealing, but I wanted something I could blend really well. These are great! They do have a ton of ink in them, so even though they aren't refillable I think they are worth the money, and the brush tips come down to a really fine point which is great. I do have a few things to point out so I will number my point to try and make them more clear.1. These will be frustrating at first for at least most people. When I first got them I really struggled to use them and the biggest problem I had was the paper, I tested them in a coloring book, that was printed probably on like a 65lb index stock which these are not meant to be on, and I found them really frustrating to try and blend, they didn't take water very well and left all kinds of weird smuggies on my paper. But then when I tried them on a 140lb water color paper they were amazing! colors flowed much better, blending was cleaner, and they didn't smug after being given a few seconds to dry.2. The dry brush effect, because these markers are watercolor style, when you try to color over large areas you get a very uneven dry brush look, and the main reason is the ink doesn't come out that quickly. These are not really meant to be a stead stream of color with out layers in large areas. So if you do want to have a really dense color straight out of the pen, these aren't for you. They will not color like any marker you are used to.3. I like a lot of different color choices when I am trying to color, but I also didn't want to totally go outside my budget so I only bought the 48 pack. It has proven to be more than enough when it comes to coloring. My only big issue is that the colors are not 100% true to cap color, which I didn't really expect and doesn't bother me to much as the first thing I did with them was make a swatch chart. The two colors that really bother me are Mustard and oatmeal which should almost be swapped as far as ink to color. Mustard is more tan and Oatmeal is almost the color from woodys shirt in toy story. But thats just a personal issue.4. The light shades are almost florescent and many can be hard to see unless you have dark contrast colors next to them. There are probably 5 different colors that I don't reach for unless I am doing brush to brush and happen to need a lighter shade to make a medium. I find very little use for them outside of that. But when it comes down to it I would for sure buy these again; but maybe go for a bigger set.

Great set of markers
I bought these pens for one purpose: to color in coloring books. I have yet to use all the colors, but so far the colors I have used are great. There a few fluorescent colors. The color number of these are preceded with an "F". The brush tip tapers to a super fine tip. If you need reading glasses, you'll definitely want to wear them to see the tip. Otherwise, it's easy to color outside the lines. So far, they have yet to bleed through the paper in my books. I have nearly a full set of Copic Sketch markers, and I will say this, I like the brush tip on these markers much better. However, these do not blend nearly as well as Copic, but they blend well enough for coloring books. The tips clean easily enough when they happen to pick up another color. I think they're a tad expensive for what they are: one-ended, non-refillable markers. However, for adult coloring books, I find them perfect. My Copics are sorted into small buckets that hang from a rail on the craft room wall, and are not portable like these markers. Another reason I decided to buy them is because the case is nice, secure, and travels well whether it's from room-to-room, in the car, or on a plane. I like that the one end has a tip that is the color of the ink in the pen. It makes it super easy to see which color it is because it's hard to tell through the brush cap. I sent a box to my adult daughter and she literally squealed and jumped up and down; they made her so happy and that made me happy. All-in-all, this box of markers is nothing less than pure joy.
