Iroshizuku inks are an interntional standard - Tsuki-Yo no exception
Very well mannered ink with great flow, quick drying, and no tendency to smudge as some highly saturated boutique inks are prone. This moonlight blue has just a hint of teal when dry - very beautiful, but not out of place in a pure business context. Iroshizuki offers desirable subtle shades of color with the well behaved, unfussy standard performance in most pens one has come to expect from Pilot, Pelikan or Waterman inks. I'd characterize this ink as very "wet" free flowing, but doesn't feather excessively on even cheap copy paper or card stock better suited to ball points. I've tried in several pens ranging from Pelikan m800 XF to m1000 F to m800 M. Definately likes Pelikan F best. XF is thin and Spidery, but that's my general complaint with this nib. Medium is typically my daily go to writer, and it's effortlessly smooth, flows beautifully, but is right at the edge of too broad a line to be neat and legible. I'll load a Namiki - Pilot 742 F next, with expectation this nib will be right in the home row for this ink. Only disappointment was a Namiki Falcon soft-Medium, which left a line so broad to nearly be illegible on most any paper stock. That's not unusual with free flowing inks in this pen, but was worth a trial. This ink will replace Waterman Mysterious Blue in my rotation. Both are similarly well behaved, but moonlight is a warmer, more natural and desirable shade with just a bit freeer flow. Fast shipping and service from Amazon's partner supplier. Bravo. Well done.

Excellent ink in excellent color, works flawlessly in all of my fountain pens.
Pilot Iroshizuku inks are pricey but well worth it. They perform well in all of my fountain pens and are of consistently high quality. The bottle is beautiful and makes a nice conversation piece on my desk. The indentation at the bottom of the bottle for the nib to rest in during filling is a nice touch. Shin-Kai is one of my favorite colors. It is a classy blue/black that can be used on any official document as well as everyday use. It goes on somewhat brighter blue and then dries down to a darker hue. If I could only own one color of ink it would probably be Shin-Kai due to its flexibility from formal to casual. If you have never tried an Iroshizuku ink, you will be pleased but spoiled with this one. I like to mess around with different brands for fun and experimentation. So far I haven't found a brand that is better that Pilot Iroshizuku.

Not your garden-variety red
I was a little worried that this ink would write as an ordinary red (like any dollar store ballpoint red, you know?) but I'm amazed at how lovely the color actually is. It's a mesmerizing red with a somewhat cool undertone, tipping it ever so slightly in the direction of plum while still being undeniably red. It drew wonderfully into the converter of my fountain pen, and the container has a luxurious feel with a hefty, secure cap and quality glass. I look forward to exploring other colors from the same line!

High quality ink. Can be used in flex pens.
Deep cranberry color. Sophisticated. Flows easily from fountain pen. Doesn't feather or bleed into high quality notebook paper like Meade five star notebook paper. Also works well with a flex pen. The jar is a keeper, it allows ink to be siphoned up at the lowest nib point. This jar holds a lot of high quality ink.

Rare review...
It's fairly rare for me to "try" reviewing products unless they're worth buying. Hopefully, for those unsure: I haven't bought every ink, but I have enough to compare. 0. The raw files are too large, so edited ones will have to do. 1. They outperform Waterman and everything else for those who "smudge." 2. I returned the grey one because it was "too light." My bad. It's totally great for annotations in books and whatnot. 3. Take-sumi is my favorite, including comparisons with Noodler's, Carbon Platinum, and Waterman. (Sailor might be better.) 4. Each color is a different pen. 4.0 Grey (F-S): Hong Dian F 4.1 Yellow Green (C-R) (forgot bottle): Amz Basics M 4.2 Black (T-S): Hong Dian M and F 4.3 Blue (S-K): Hong Dian F 4.3 Light Blue (S-R): Lamy Alstar F 4.4 Red (Y-B): Ruling Pen 4.5 Light Red (M): Hong Dian Bent Nib 4.6 Purple (M-S): Ruling Pen 5. Paper: 5.1 HP 32# (5/5) 5.2 Tomoe paper (5/5) 5.3 Cotton paper (100% and mix) (4/5) 5.4 Copy paper (5/5) 6. Color: 6.1 Bounty towel color comparison 6.2 It's hard to capture color. Lots of reviews don't capture color very well. Each image was taken at 50 ISO, 1/4 speed. Image 1: Ambient + 2x 2700K 1600-lumen CFL bulbs Image 2: Ambient + 1x 2700K 1600-lumen CFL indirect Image 3: Ambient only (2x GE 2000K 125-lumen indirect) Could not capture daylight well. 7. Each bottle was shipped in a box, packaged well. No spills or issues. 8. A guaranteed smudge-free black and blue are Sailor's, but these outperform in many other ways. 9. Don't be disappointed if the color is not what you're expecting. [*] Comparison with Pilot Prepa Overall, it seems like the lighter colors are more suited for annotations or highlights. These will probably end up getting used more in day-to-day activities than the darker ones. I will likely repurchase the grey eventually. Each light color is dark enough to be legible in a book or while grading but subtle enough not to stand out. 5/5

Ink missing yet good rich color
First off before i review the actual ink i would like to mention why i didnt give it a 5 star, i previously had ordered take sumi iroshuzoku dark black ink and it was full up to the neck, this one however was only filled maybe 2/3 of the way or 4/5 of the way, leaving a considerable portion missing, im guessing a lot of it dried off so this was a huge negative for me and a loss on money. The color is just that grade of red you are looking for, rich while also being bright and not too dark. Its brightness doesn't dazzle your eyes and look like a flashlight but instead its rich and deep. For the money you are getting a decent amount of ink and a nice notch at the bottom of the glass to allow you to fill that last little bit of ink, saving you money and time, comparing this to other inks its certainly on the higher end price wise but considering how well it runs through the pen and how smoothly it writes it is well worth the extra money. I tested the smearing in the photo only seconds after i wrote with it, considering this is a highly water based ink it doesnt smear particularly bad but you wouldnt want to touch it for a few seconds after writing. Apologies for my imperfect handwriting, i dont fit in with the rest of the fountain pen community in terms of that haha

Solid Fountain pen Ink. PILOT Iroshizuku Bottled Fountain Pen Ink, Shin-Kai, Deep Sea (Blue Black)
Just my opinion, but outside of some of Pilot's colors, I've not been disappointed with how the Iroshizuku bottled ink work in my fountain pens. I've got a number of them, so it's not just a random claim. Of course, the paper comes into play also, but what ink you use in one of your pens may not behave in the same manner as another fountain pen. Purchase many or a few fountain pens, and use them on a variety of fountain pens with different nibs, and it easy to see it's isn't always about the pen, it's name, or nib grind, it's the ink the hits the road, er... paper. Pilot inks are darn good, and no so expensive. The bottles look cool (?) and function to help you get most of the ink out of the bottle. (not perfect, but what is?) The Blue/Black is a darker ink which is what I like.

Don't Be Fooled By The Translation of Tsuki-Yo - This Is Quite The Subtlest Blue Black Out There...
I have to admit that my go to Blue Black at the moment is the extremely lovely Diamine BB, which is really effective through all my F and EF nibs. It's saturated, super lubricated and shades beautifully. I saw the Tsuki-Yo and had to buy it at the price offered here on Amazon by Santa in Japan, and I'm glad I did. Don't be misled by translation of 'Moonlight Turquoise' - it's not turquoise - Pilot Tsuki-yo is a beautiful blue black with a hint of turquoise that, through my fine nibbed pens has a lovely greyish green tint to it that is midway between the Diamine BB and a blue that leans towards turquoise slightly, (Diamines Majestic Blue being a case in point). I've just dipped five different fine nibbed pens, and (sad face) unlike my other Irishozuku inks, I can't get it to shade, but the upside is it hardly feathers even on the cheapest papers (T*sco squared notepad being the lightest I tried). And the more I look at it in natural light, the more it resembles Sailors Sei-Boku in colour - just a few shades darker, especially on cream paper, and that can't be a bad thing. It gives a nice crisp line to my script, and it's very satisfying to use, it dries quickly and shows no fading after 48 hours on the windowledge in bright sun. Although it performs well through fine nibs, I know Tsuki-Yo would be stunning through M and B nibs (especially a stub) as this the extra flow would really show this ink off at it's best. I have one B nibbed jinhao that I use purely for comparison purposes and Tsuki-Yo through that is a truly gorgeous blue black without any hint of grey/green, I wish my handwriting fitted fatter nibs, but hey ho. The bottle is beautiful also, with its trademark crystal glass and internal indentation for the nib, and I always smile at that silver grey cord...very classy. Am I pleased with this purchase? Absolutely, this is a nice addition to my collection and an ink that could be used for both personal or business use. Buy it with confidence, it really is that good. Hope this helped.

Tinta japonesa excelsa
