Already broken. I've only had this for 2 months and the plastic part that holds the filter together is broken. Can I send this back for a better one?

I think prevention is better than a cure in this case. After reading about your misfortune, I make sure to only use fingertip pressure to tighten the pieces. When the lid assembly is placed into the carafe, it needs some "wiggle room ", so make sure it is a bit loose. Once it's done brewing, gently tighten by turning to top ball just a smidge with your fingertips. Don't let other people mess with it, especially teenaged boys with their superpowers just coming in. ;-) We have had a few small incidents involving our 15 y.o. grandson over-tightening things on accident. That's it! Remember it's a tiny bit of fragile plastic & I hope my answer helps. BTW, I adore my Bodum French press! So good! Yum.

Can the glass beaker be easily removed from the base? thank you

I had the other Brazil version. I was able to remove the beaker. VERY CAREFUL, it is in there tight. SOAP and warm water, you should get some movement from it. I wouldn't recommend removing the beaker unless you really have to clean it. If you don't feel comfortable removing the beaker, then I wouldn't.

The product description says the carafe is made of glass but a lot of the customer reviews say plastic. Which is it?

Beaker is glass. The handle and the part that the beaker fits into is plastic.

Where is this French Prench made in?

I was wondering too! The one I am replacing was bought from Amazon Jan. 2015. It stated Poland on the Glass, but nothing on the plastic. Now they all seem to state Portugal on the glass portion. I like the BODUM embossed plastic frame, but it is an older model with the flat top and D handle. Even Bodum does updates.
