very satisfied
our volunteer citizens police academy ordered these to assist with traffic control - and they fit the bill perfectly: light weight, bright, light options (steady/flashing), hand strap and in our budget. we would definitely recommend these for any other such group or individual to carry in their car for emergencies. be aware, even though the description says it needs 2 D batteries, and the box it comes in says the same - it really takes 2 C batteries.

LED is the best!
Every year here we have a holiday lights show at one of our complexes. My family and I volunteer every year also. My job was to direct traffic so I went into the shack to get a light. They had one of these LED batons in there and I figured I'd try it out. Wonderful! The traffic went in smothly even though we had about 1,000 cars come through that night. Highly visible and safe!

Why the rave reviews?
I received my traffic baton today. When I opened the package I thought, "Oh man, what have a paid money for?" It was light as a feather, of cheap, plastic construction. The "seal" that was supposed to go between the upper and lower portions was all stretched out, so that it didn't form a seal, so I just removed it. The batteries just barely fit into the reciever tube. I had to really push down to get the two halves back together. Then, the threads didn't want to hold it together. The functionality was intermittent. I eventually had to tape it together with electrical tape to hold it together. Yes, it is nice and bright and I will be able to make it work for me (with some trouble). However, the truth be told, it's a cheap piece of crap, made in China! It's a good thing Goldfinger Jewelry wasn't selling it for $19.99. I would have really been cheesed. I only paid the $8.95, plus shipping. Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for.
