Possible Misrepresentation?
For what I paid $18.70 at the time, the price wasn't bad at all for the size. However, this isn't my first Pacific Gold original jerky. I've purchased many (not from online) and luckily for me, they all including this one, weren't salty at all. However, I did notice a difference in packaging. Ones that is labeled as "Grass Fed" seem to be softer to chew than those that don't have the label on the left top. The image shows this one with the "Grass Fed" label. The actual product I received did not and was much harder. So I'm guessing there is somewhat a misrepresentation of the product. I believe the seller needs to clarify that information.Don't get me wrong. I KNOW beef jerkies in general are somewhat mostly hard and salty. There is a good reason for that. But not with the ones I had purchased in the past with the specific "Grass Fed" label with this particular brand.

Not as good. Jerky instructions.
I used to buy a 16oz bag of pacific gold at a big box store for $13.00-$14,00 dollars; that was 25 years ago.$5.00 price raise in 25 years; not bad. Just think of ANY other item that has not gone up 20% in the last 25 years. The ONLY way you are going to reduce the high cost of good jerky, is to MAKE IT YOURSELF; which I do. All it takes,is a good rump roast sliced thin while still partially frozen (so you can control the cut). Soak in Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and pepper (You control how hot via the pepper; I use a lot), let sit over night in the fridge, wring out what ever liquid is left over, lay out on Food Dehydrator (I use the NESCO FD-37A), and let run until the jerky gets dark and a bit crisp. (usually about 8 hours) You can also add Soy, or Teriyaki, to control the final taste, and more or less brown sugar to control the sweetness. The only reason I purchased a couple of the Pacific Gold, was just to remind myself what it tasted like so I could adjust my formula. What I discovered, is that A LOT of brown sugar is used which is what makes it so sweet, and sticky. The current Pacific Gold jerky is not as good as it was originally, before they were bought out, and I can make better Via the instructions I have given.

Good quality, good taste, price could be better
The Pacific Gold jerky is much better in terms of taste and quality than the cheaper bulk packages available on Amazon and elsewhere. The cheaper brands make heavy use of MSG, preservatives, and spices. The result is like having a chewy, spicy, chemistry lab in your mouth. Pacific Gold tries to balance cost and quality and does a pretty good job of it. The packages I bought state that the jerky is made of beef that comes from one or more of five countries: U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Uruguay. The Pacific Gold label says there is no "added" MSG, but it does not say there is no MSG. The Pacific Gold flavor is credible -- you can taste beef (and like it) as well as brown sugar and hickory flavoring and there is no distracting chemical taste. The only product I have found so far on Amazon that is in a similar quality/price bracket is Golden Valley's non-organic line. Golden Valley is a little less expensive than Pacific Gold, especially if you subscribe. The last time I read Golden Valley's package it stated that the jerky was made of U.S. beef raised without hormones. Golden Valley recently raised the price of the product I like substantially, but even after the price increase it is competive in its quality bracket.

20% price increase?
Love this jerky. Why the price increase? From $18.73 to new price: $23. Up 20% in 1.5 months. Seems excessive increase. What's the deal. I want to buy again but such an increase. I believe I should be able to buy this product again at the same price.

Best Jerky ever! This is consistently the best tasting jerky.
I have tried a lot and never found any that compare. The taste, the chewiness without being too soft or too had make it very satisfying to snack on, or even sub for a small meal. Also the quantity you get in two bags at a time, is excellent, needs to be tried for sure.

Good product.
Great taste and not loaded up with salt. I have tried a lot of beef jerky in my lifetime and this is one of the best. Do not freeze it but you can put it in the refrigerator to help preserve it. I cut mine up with scissors and eat it in small bits. There are no preservatives in this product which is why I like it.

I like it a little tastier
Didn't know Oberto makes this. Personally, it's too mild and tender. I like it a little tastier, with more chew. This was almost like eating room temperature steak, which isn't a bad thing. Its just the style I guess. BIG strips though. That was nice. But, Oberto's Original is better IMHO.

Will buy again!
If you like beef jerky that is not hard to chew you will love this. This is a softer, not mushy jerky with somewhat sweet and smoky flavor. It's very good and this is coming from someone that has never liked jerky. Most are hard to chew but this stuff isn't. Wonderful product, will buy again.
