THE BEST!!!!
This is simply the best retelling of the Norman conquest of 1066 I've ever read, connecting the dots in Kiev and even providing snippets on Harold Godwinson's complex character. Some accounts portray Harold as a hero, while others as a bad guy simply because he lost. I like Churchill's portrayal as a two-sided, three-dimensional character best. Hope he writes more books. Excellent job!

Fantastic
A wonderful end to a magnificent trilogy. I am wishing that the story could go on to fill out the postscript. The book left me thinking what might have happened if Harold had won and behold, David Churchill has even done a ‘what if’ on the H for History website (link at the end of the book).I do hope that David writes more of these novels.

Great Series
Great book loved all the series. Fascinated by how things developed and the players involved. As an Englishman thinking William was always the bad guy, the background provided by these books certainly made me look at things differently.

I have now completed the the three books in the series. Very well written containing an insight into the devious back stabbing characters who ultimately grabbed the English throne. I now know where the T.V. series "Game of Thrones" got most of its plots from.

The end was nigh
Having read many versions of this, I perhaps knew what to expect. There were some enlightening moments but the outcome was always going to be the same!
