Air Vent Assembly

One of my little guys snapped the top off our freeze free spigot (the air vent or anti-siphon piece). This is an exact match to what we had. Lowes and Home Depot have replacement pieces for about $4 but the reviews were not great and some customers said the pieces didn't fit what they had so for $12 I was fine getting the same thing. The dark green also matches the knob so it looks a little nicer too.

I recently bought a house and one of the outside faucets had a broken cap. All I had to go by was the blurry image on the left and I could barely make out the APB (at first thought is was ABB) I searched for days because for one thing I didn't have any idea what it was called, finally stumbled across the Arrowhead parts site and it was out of stock. Copied the item number and went to Amazon and there is was! Ordered it on Wednesday and it came in on Friday. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and with a couple of screw drivers I was able to chip out the old broken part. I put the inner thing in wrong the first time and it leaked. Took it apart and reinstalled it and NO LEAKS!! My house was build in 2001 so that faucet had never been replaced, but the one on the other side of the house had been. So PK1430 works! I will be buying a couple of spares just in case, I have better things to spend my money on besides a plumber. Just for background level of skills, I am a 65 year old widow, this was easy!

Almost gave up on finding the right size replacement assembly after trying the one from Amazon and other from Menards, both turned out to be smaller than the one needed to fit on to the outside spigot. Strangely enough, this particular option never showed up in my search options at Amazon. I could only get this particular item after finding the name of existing one from the second spigot that had paint all over it and was hard to read. Because, I would have saved two trips to Menards and a purchase (refunded) from the amazone and a long wait to finally fix leaky faucet had I found this item among the options at my first search attempt. Nevertheless, I am super happy that I found the part and the replacement was simple, twisted out the old and put the new one in and gently screwed it on to the slot. As far as the parts material is concerned, the entire set is made up of plastic type material.

A plumber told me my outdoor faucet would have to be replaced because my brand wasn't made anymore, and no replacement assembly would work. I called bull$hit. This vent assembly is a universal vent assembly and fit my "outdated" faucet perfectly. Easy to replace myself. And MUCH cheaper than a plumber. There aren't any instructions or a diagram in the package, which is a bummer. If you're unsure about how to install, just search for a quick YouTube video.
