The leading wood design reference―thoroughly revised with the latest codes and data Fully updated to cover the latest techniques and standards, the eighth edition of this comprehensive resource leads you through the complete design of a wood structure following the same sequence used in the actual design/construction process. Detailed equations, clear illustrations, and practical design examples are featured throughout the text. This up-to-date edition conforms to both the 2018 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2018 National Design Specification for Wood Construction (NDS). Design of Wood Structures-ASD/LRFD , Eighth Edition, covers: • Wood buildings and design criteria • Design loads • Behavior of structures under loads and forces • Properties of wood and lumber grades • Structural glued laminated timber • Beam design and wood structural panels • Axial forces and combined loading • Diaphragms and shearwalls • Wood and nailed connections • Bolts, lag bolts, and other connectors • Connection details and hardware • Diaphragm-to-shearwall anchorage • Requirements for seismically irregular structures • Residential buildings with wood light frames Review: A necessity for a practicing Structural Engineer - If you working in the residential or commercial space, The book is a necessity for a practicing Structural Engineer. Review: Also Great for General Structures! - As a structural engineer just getting into the field, this book definitely helped me understand visually what lateral forces are and an in-depth guide to some lateral force resisting systems (including diaphragms and shear walls). I don’t even work with wood structures, and I feel a lot more knowledgeable about LFRS after picking up this book. Thanks!

Highly recommended for designing wood structures
I’ve only gotten into 10% of the book but my it’s highly impressive. This book goes into great detail about designing wood structures. Finnaly a book that me and my university can agree on with a good foundation.

Well organized and full of examples
This textbook is much more useful than most of my engineering texts. This one is actually a keeper! There are lots of examples that walk you through the all intricate and convoluted details of designing with wood.

Excellent Wood Design Book
This is the best reference for wood design. Covers how to design (including how to calculate lateral loads per 2018 IBC, 2018 NDS, and ASCE 7-16). Also shows how to design several items pertaining to wood design (e.g., WSP shear walls, wood beams, wood columns)

Poor paper and print quality
Quality of paper and print is poor. Images are all black and white. Book is not worth the cost.
