Does this thermometer automatically add a degree?

I wouldn't say a whole degree, a point or 2 maybe. It will read higher if handle is cold. I usually hold in palm of hand for 15 second before taking temp. Also if it seems high, I take the temp of a family member I know is not sick. Highest read I got was 98.9°. also I own 2 of them, didn't want to share during in home covid out- break. they are usually a point or 2 off i.e.one will say 100.5 & other 100.7. I bought a similar generic that always registered 97.7 on everyone fever/no fever

Does yours take several second to display the temperature? I had one just like this 7 years ago.. it was much faster. But same model.. same look

We have 2 of them - they both take temp reading in about 1 second.

Every time I try to use it to take a temp it says error, how do you take a temp?

Push on button, wait for green light, aim in middle slightly above eyebrow, either way for the 5 beeps or until color/temp registered. If the unit is hot, like near heat source or not positioned correct it will give you Red Err message. Also the Braun you can place directly on skin if you're not sure you're not aiming correctly

when i hold the item to my forehead and press the button it turns off!! put new batteries in does the same thing?
