ONLY buy this if you need the 3x3 size which isn't available elsewhere, otherwise look elsewhere
I've never raved about the build quality of IKEA furniture - of which I have a lot - but compared to this, the IKEA storage pieces that I have are masterfully engineered and constructed. If it weren't for the fact that the Swedish furniture giant doesn't offer a 3x3 version of their cubic storage, I would have returned this and made the 1.5 hour drive instead. If you've ever assembled a piece of IKEA furniture (or similar) then you won't have any trouble with the logistics of assembling this, though you may still have trouble. Allow me to explain:-After completely assembled I would describe this product as basically stable. I would describe the IKEA Kallax as quite strong and sturdy - I have multiple pieces that have been through multiple moves, multiple tear downs and rebuilds, and they're still very strong. I don't hesitate to put any amount of weight on them, but I DO hesitate to put very much weight on or in this.-The pre-drilled holes aren't even drilled evenly in each piece. This leads to some of the cubes being ever so slightly wider or narrower than the others. If you are using the 13x13 cube baskets that fit flush (as in the promo pictures) they will now not fit in some of the cubes due to this. I can only fit my baskets easily in about 6 or 7 of the 9 cubes.-A side effect of the holes not being drilled evenly, is that some of the holes for the dowels are VERY close to the edge of the pieces themselves. Being made of particle board, I don't trust that it will hold indefinitely.-The hardware leaves much to be desired. It is built with the same type of cam lock nuts & screws as IKEA furniture, BUT they don't fit even remotely as well. The cam nuts don't tighten as far as they really should, and thus many of them don't fit flush into their spots. One of the cam nuts broke in half. BROKE IN HALF with the regular force of hand-tightening with a phillips screwdriver. I've never once had any IKEA hardware snap into two pieces.-They give you flimsy little plastic covers to cover screw holes. But they don't fit in the screw holes. Or the screws they're supposed to cover are counter-sunk and too far below the surface anyway. So they are useless.-With all of these manufacturing quality/hardware issues, I would hesitate to ever disassemble and reassemble. I doubt it would last through 1 or 2 reassemblies.TL;DR - okay for light use. ONLY buy this if you need the 3x3 size because you don't have any other options. Don't have high expectations.

I love BHG cube organizers, but...
I've been trying to get a black 9 or 12-cube organizer for a while and figured the "espresso" finish would be close enough. Sadly, the seller shipped me the "tobacco oak" and it wasn't at all what I wanted. Instead of sending me the right one, they refunded my money without coming to pick up the item. So now I have this book case that doesn't go with anything and still don't have what I was looking for. Disappointing! The organizers are great because they're big enough to fit my vinyl record collection, and they're sturdy enough to fill. I HATE those shelves that look like they'll hold a lot of books, only to find out each shelf has a 25 pound weight limit. That's not a problem with these units. Each cube can hold 30 pounds, which is plenty. And the top shelf holds 100 pounds, so you can easily set a TV or another row of books on top... and I have a LOT of books and music to store!

I love the way this unit looks
I love the way this unit looks, for the most part it was easy to assemble. I didnt give it 5 stars because It does wabble a little bit and I had difficulty assembling the last top (one of the part A's) piece because it did not fall into place with the wooden dowels so I had to remove the dowels and my daughter had to help me hold the top part A firmly into place while I screw in the screws and that seemed to work just fine. This unit looks like a quality piece and I like that the pieces were thick and not thin and flimsy. Looks really good for the price.

Good quality for this type of product
This is a strong sturdy organizer. The directions were easy to follow and it didn't take long to put together. You do need to use the Better Homes and Gardens storage cubes. Other brands are smaller and don't fit right in the cubbies. I actually wish they weren't as big for my purposes (organizing my 2yr olds toys). I would love to have a few more shelves and be able to do half baskets for the smaller items. Alas... definitely worth paying a little more for this unit than the cheaper, less sturdy ones. I have included several pictures showing the unit as I am using it, how a smaller basket looks in it, and the size difference between the Better Homes and Gardens basket and the standard 10.5x10.5x11 basket.

Poor quality materials, difficult assembly
This unit is extremely difficult to assemble. The dowels rip right out of the partition boards because the particle board is so cheap. The cam locks ripped out of the long middle shelf. The only way to safely and assemble the cubes would to buy 24 angle brackets and screw them into the shelves and outside pieces. The cams don’t hold the initial assembly together so that the shelves keep falling out. Great concept, poor execution.

Great for Vinyl
Works great for my vinyl collection! Lots of cube storage units are not deep enough to hold albums, but this is and it looks great. Sturdy, IKEA-like assembly.

Great storage
Was easy to assemble and does a fine job holding my vinyl records + turntable. Will probably buy a second once my collections expands to necessitate one.
