Simple, Easy, Functional!
I am taking some online coding classes and wanted some simple, custom notebooks/textbooks for my courses so that I could make the most out of the resources provided by the class. I wanted to be able to easily and quickly make the notebooks whenever I need them. That’s why I purchased this rather than going to the printing store every time I need a new book. I have never used a contraption like this before. It is very straight-forward and easy to use. I purchased this specific one because it has a full handle bar and I wanted something that was easy for me to push down on. It’s great! It comes with everything I needed and is ready to use out of the box. All you need is a printer and some paper(it does not come with clear covers, but I personally don’t need them). It comes with 100 of the black spines so I will be set for a while! I honestly think it is a good deal for the quality of the product and what I personally use it for.

Does a satisfactory job
PROS:o End result is niceo Affordable way to comb-bind a smallish number of pages and bookletsCONS:o My experience was that the stated 15 sheet at a time capacity is a bit optimisticWould I recommend this to a friend: Yes, with caveatsOverall, I am satisfied. I didn't want to spend a ton on a comb binding machine for the limited number of times I will have need of it. There is a little bit of a learning curve, not that it's complicated, but just getting familiar with it and learning what you need to pay attention to.I don't think I ever succeeded in punching 15 sheets at a time, more like 8 to 10. Which makes it a fairly long process if you have a document that is more than 20 pages, and you are wishing to produce multiple booklets. In which case, you have to punch multiple sets of pages, and you need to pay attention to which end of the pages is against the left guide. You have to make sure that you consistently put the same end against the guide. Whether you choose the top of the bottom doesn't matter, but you have to be consistent. Also, if you are using plastic front and rear cover sheets to protect the booklets, the same rule applies, as the holes may not be exactly symmetrically spaced from each end (depending on how much you fuss with the guide when you set up the machine). Also, using the upper station of the machine to install the combs into the pages is a bit fussy. I had to experiment to figure out exactly where to position the lever to have the fingers that open the plastic teeth on the comb positioned to best make the pages go onto the teeth. Even then, I found it a bit of an inexact science.Overall, the end result was pleasing, and I'm not sorry that I purchased this unit. Were I going to want to comb bind documents consisting of many pages, or produce booklets in quantity, I would look for something more expensive that would handle more pages and require less setup and manual fussing about.

Saves Time and Money
For years I've been going to Staples to PAY to have this exact type of comb binding done, usually for a round $5, AND the time it takes waiting for the staff to get around to me. That could take anywhere from 20 minutes to half an hours depending on how busy the store is.I was rather surprised to find that the binding machine wasn't that expensive. This is an amazing value. You get 100 binding combs to start you off as well? Certainly, this machine easily pays for itself. This works great, is very sturdy, and reliable. Very pleased!

Make your own books.
I finally own my own binding machine. I tried those cardboard 3 hole folded in the past. I never liked the way the pages laid when you opened them. This binding system allows your pages to lay flat when you open the book. I especially like that this machine punches the slots and binds or unbinds your documents. It is also nice that this binder came with a bunch of backbones that are needed to make your books with. This thing makes making small booklets a breeze.

It breaks at or around 30 Days
The punch continued to work fine with both units I had in hand. However, within 30 days the first one that I purchased had the comb that spread the plastic spines stop working correctly. The right/left movement of the combs stopped working, negating the ability to grab a spine to open it.On the second unit I traded in for under the return policy, it failed a little after to 30 days. Not wanting to argue or hassle, I instead asked for the go-ahead from my department to get a $300 dollar range comb binder from a different company. In summary, nothing is worth your money if you have to keep re-buying it because it broke (from standard use).

Not consistent across the horizontal pull of the combs, making it difficult to load papers
Standard comb binding machine, have used these for years, I got this one to have at home, and it works just fine as far as punching the holes, and mostly for loading the papers onto the comb, but the teeth that grab the combs to open, don't pull it evenly across from left to right. It's slanted so one side is fully extended, while the other is not, but it can't be pulled further to compensate. I have had to manually yank and hold it to keep it even. I cannot return as it's outside the return window, so just have to deal with it as best as possible.

So glad I didn’t spend a ton of money! This is perfect for up to 100 plus pages- yes the binding part gets tricky, but not impossible 😊 love it
