PetDek - Vehicle Rear Seat Shelf with Non-sliding Carpet for Pets

This is the 2nd one I have bought. I bought one years ago to go into the back seat of my Ford Escape. Worked great with 2 dogs and they could stretch out on long trips. Husband stole it and is using it for the dogs and when not using it for dogs, he uses it as a shelf for stacking boxes in his car. I bought the 2nd one to put in my truck. My Shih Tzu prefers the back seat or riding on the console. She has her backend on the deck and can comfortably put her front paws no the console to watch out the front window without falling in between the front and back seats. My only suggestion for this product is that I would have liked a way to hold down the mat included. I have bought a Velcro roll and have attached it to the underside of the deck mat and to the deck which keeps the mat from slipping against the hard plastic. Then when I need to take the deck out I can un-velcro one end and fold up the deck.

I have a Jack Russell who is experiencing some mobility issues. She likes to move about the vehicle and look at all angles and activity. I bought a larger vehicle Hyundai Palisade) and it has captains chairs in the second row. She had a difficult time jumping from the floor onto the center console (her primary perch). This allows her to move freely from the very rear to the front without any major jumps. It fits snugly and securely on top of the captains chair seats and the legs support the front of the unit. It has a non-skid cover that keeps my pup from losing her balance. She loves it, and so do I!

Pros: it helps. Well made. Easy to install. No tools needed.Cons: still need pillows to fill gaps from front to back seats so our Golden Retriever doesn’t step into a hole.The seats aren’t horizontal, that was the desired result. The dog can no longer get into the backseat by herself because this raised the seat too high. Now I’ll have to shop for some kind of wide fold up lightweight stairs to enter the SUV. We have a 2018 Toyota Highlander (a bigger SUV). This PetDek covers most of the back seats .We have bucket seats back there with a drink holder in between them. The holder just folds down and the PetDek lays easily on top. The “carpet” that goes over the PetDek is not anything nice. Need to find something padded to go over that. The dog wants to be up front with us , to be honest. If we could eliminate the console, that would do the trick, ya know ? Why are there NO vehicles for dog owners who like to roadtrip with their best friends? Which brings me to why are there no people beds wide enough to incorporate dogs? I digress.

I purchased this for my Kia Optima and a large breed dog. I use it approx 6hrs every week and long 3+ hr drives and have had it for over a month now. Initial setup was easy, but it's worth noting a couple of points. The legs aren't the most intuitive to adjust so refer to the directions and Really tighten them at the length you want. Adjust the passenger front seat to back tightly to the deck. This helps prevent shifting. The carpeting looks like it might slide around but I haven't had issue. If it becomes a problem I will cut it at the fold point and glue it permanently down.Some tips for use... I noticed a gap at the back near the rear seat back. This was problematic because my dog could put a leg down the gap. It was easily solved with an inexpensive body pillow that I tuck across the back seat. I have a beautiful fluffy long haired dog... and this means a ridiculous abundance of hair. To keep clean up easy I use a pet seat protector under the petdeck. This helps prevent hair from going everywhere in cracks of seats/floor/etc. The petdeck carpet surface does collect some hair. I've found the best way to clean it or automotive carpet in general is the Dyson tangle free turbine head for their sweepers. It works wonders FAST.All in all this provides a larger, stable surface and has helped alleviate travel anxiety for my dog... which is worth the cost. I'd highly recommend it.

You need to search the sellers hidden pages of info to find out that THIS seller DOES NOT return the shipping cost. When the refund was received, it was minus the shipping. Won't break the bank, but deceptive advertising. They make it very difficult to find the wording. When you click on the drop down for refund information it says FULL REFUND IN 30 DAYS. I clicked again and came to the Amazon return policy and thought I was good with that. Wasn't until I got the item that I realized it did NOT come from amazon but a third party seller and I needed to check their information pages to find that Shipping is not returned!The item itself did not fit my car, the legs would not go down far enough to reach the floor. The legs extend, but not that far and they don't feel that tight either. It would have been very uncomfortable for the dog as the deck did not go all the way to the back of my seat either! This product may work for some, but on the whole it's poorly made, a poor design and not at all universal.

It's just what I've been looking for to help out my dog. But the 2 fold out legs won't stay extended to the floor so it tips forward on our 45lb dog. Extremely disappointed. Our dogs love car rides but one is just too big for back bucket seats of my Explorer... which I hate, never again. Stupid seats are even too small for adults to be comfortable.

This worked great. My dog liked/ loved it. She was comfortable. It was sturdy for her 68 lbs. East to put in and removes just as easy. We put a crate bed on it for the 10 hour trip.I have nothing bad to say about this.Don’t wait get it. You will not be sorry

6/1/14 Update. The legs no longer hold tight. As soon as weight is on the legs they slide down and the deck flips to the floor. Too bad, I really wanted this product to work. Changing my star review.I really like my PetDek. It works just as it was stated. very easy to put in and remove. Really saves my leather seats and provides a stable place for my dogs to ride. I have found it handy to have in the back seat during the garden season hauling plants and soil. It does not work in the back of my husbands truck though. He is a tall man and has to have his seat back all the way. That doesn't allow for the PetDek. Wish it was somehow adjustable for seat width.
