The Pruner's Bible: A Step-by-Step Guide to Pruning Every Plant in Your Garden

Broad range but no depth, weak index.
I first tried to look up weeping cherry, but found only a general one-page treatment of cherry trees. There was no entry in the index for "apple"! Without knowing the Latin name of a plant, it's hard to find it. The book covers a wide range of plants, but for the same kinds of plants, the same advice is repeated page after page. There's very little that's specific to a particular plant. The book is a very general treatment of pruning, with a few specific tips for certain plants. I was disappointed. This is a good book for a beginner, but it's not a "bible".

pruning is simple!
this book will show you the way to prune most anything for the desired result. timing, length and reasoning behind mindful pruning is the difference between clean and beautiful and leggy, miss shaped jungle foliage.

Pedestrian and not really as functional as Cass Turnbull's classic on the same subject.

A must for every gardener's library
"The Pruner's Bible" should have a place in every gardener's library. All types of pruning are simplified, well illustrated, and explained. Pruning is often neglected by gardeners simply because they feel too inexperienced or are afraid of seriously harming their plants. This book makes pruning as simple as watering! It also details the timing of pruning different species, so you don't end up generating new growth just prior to the first frost! Buy it, enjoy it, share it.

A must for your gardening library !
This is a well thought out book on pruning. It was first lent to me by a friend who is a Master Gardener, and I poo poo'ed it as just another pruning book - and I had plenty. But, in fact, the information is great, well organized, and especially good. I ended up buying my own copy AND one for my daughter!! Definitely a 5 star. NOT 'just another' pruning guide.
