Very Sensitive Liquid level sensor & relay controller pcb assembly - 5V operation.
Excellent feature set for maintaining liquid levels within a range of the 3" sensor probe. The included sensor probe reports both low level and high level to the control pcb. The control pcb measures the impedance change on the two pairs of parallel circuit traces on the probe; one each for high and low liquid levels. The controller card runs on +5V. (NOT 9V as reported in another review). The controller card does indeed maintain the chosen state of relay operation between the Hi and Lo sensor positions. (It is designed to NOT the relay chatter indeterminantly, as claimed in yet another review). The relay contact ratings are 10A at 30VDC, or 120VAC. The relay pull in coil runs on 5 Volts. There are LEDS on the controller card which accurately report the state of the relay operation. Watch the video in the BC review. Excellent! Beware, the HI level sensor is particularly sensitive to retained moisture which Happened to me as I was testing the device by fully dunking the sensor probe. BAD idea. The relay latched ON after about the 4th testing cycle, due to the moisture captured in the probe sockets which connect the wires to the control card. My contraption is now installed, with a pump + check value to prevent a slow running basement floor drain from backup overflow during very heavy downpours of rain. We shall see if it all holds up!

Works well, hope it lasts
Just what I needed to run a small pump when water levels get to high. Of note, you can adjust the gap between the upper and lower levels in case you need it to be more narrow. The middle leads (when submerged or when the circuit is closed) trigger the upper limit. Only the upper most middle leads are connected. There are gaps because you can use a wire to optionally connect the ones below it to make the upper limit lower (see the pic).

No good.
Mine didn't work from day one. I will keep it because of the price and garbage it.

Works nicely (if it works)
The circuit board comes in bubble wrap with no instructions. Reviewer BC has clarified many things. I highly recommend reading his review and upon receipt, perform testing as per the video he also posted. The middle blue function key has an UP position (maintains level within the range) and a DOWN position. The DOWN position is used to return to the lower level, think sump pump controller. In that case the Relay will activate when high level is reached, turning on the pump, and dis-activate when low level is reached again. The pump is wired through the NO (Normally Open) Contact. Note, that the relay includes both a NO contact (Left) and a NC contact (right) with common in the middle, adding application versatility to this DIY PCB.The unit comes with 2 pairs of wires attached to a 4-in sensor plate with the switching gap set to 2.5 inches. However, you can use 4 insulated copper wires with about ¼ in stripped at the end that are lowered into the tank. You can thus adjust the switching gap to your needs, from 1 inch to several feet. The system uses conductivity between each pair of wires to detect level. The liquid must be conductive. Tap water has dissolved minerals and is conductive. Distilled water is not. There are 2 sensor plugs J1 and J2, each with a red and a black wire. They are labeled on the PCB (J1 is left), but labeled incorrectly in reverse on the attached sensor provided.J1 plug (based on PCB markings) is the HIGH level sensor. Its red wire is reference #1. Its black wire goes to the desired HIGH level probe point.J2 plug (based on PCB markings ) is the LOW level sensor. Its red wire goes to desired LOW level probe point. Its Black wire is reference # 2The height between the probe levels is the switching gap. The circuitry senses when either sensor leaves or enters the water. Nothing happens if you pull out the reference wire instead. Both reference wires should be lower than either probe point. The extension wires between the PCB circuitry and the tank can be thin and quite long (I tested 25ft), so you can keep the electronics in a sheltered space while controlling levels in a tank exposed to the elements. It is best to use stiffer, thicker wire sections as probes.I recommend testing the unit when received as per BC’s video. A fair number seem to be defective. On BC’s suggestion I ordered 2, and when tested, one was defective (relay working only with Function key in UP position). BC had flagged the same problem on his.

will it work dependably
I purchased this item should the one I built fail. Under the impression that a factory built unit would be a good backup. The operation of the item is sporadic at best.(used a 9 volt battery for power) When tried out first time, I could not determine which mode it was in as the lights and relay would seem to operate randomly or not at all regardless of probe position or switch position. Tried again a day later with probes still emersed in liquid and the unit worked as seen on video. Will try again later and view result. If it fails again, I will return it.

Nice self-contained water monitoring system
It works exactly like I needed it to. When the water level gets low it turns the pump on when the water level gets to the top it turns it off. There's a switch that took a while to figure out what it's for but it inverts that equation to maybe close a valve when the water gets low or something like that. No instructions but it's pretty straightforward. Runs on 5 volts I would prefer to run on 12.
